  • MIPS to triple purse

I see where the MIPS payout will increase from 1 millon to 3 million next year. Now that is an orignal thought. About the same as Atlantic's for next year. We know where the Atlantic money comes from Gerry and Kevin ( and the teams having to use Cosworth's) wher is the extra 2 mill. for MIPS coming from?

The fine print needs to be read in OWRS $2 million deal before you try to compare apples to apples................actually the Atlantics deal vs the Pro Series deal would be like comparing monopoly money to real money............

2 Million of the CC 3 million is in the form of 2 miilion for a atlantic driver to race in CC in 2007. That is just a new way for Kalkhoven to support a team with his wallet and attempt to make himself look good.

The 3 million IPS is giving out is all race purses and goes directly to the IPS teams. None is set aside for use in the IRL.

So who gets the beter deal IPS 3 million or Atlantics 1 Million?

Is it scary that I found the Simpsons reference in that?

If someone sweeps all MIPS races, and the MIPS Championship, how much of the purse money do they take home?

I ask because it's not clear if 3 million is the total purse, or the winner's purse.

Too little, too late. Atlantics already has the orrders for their new spec. It's cost, relative to MIPS costs is the bigger problem.

$3million is the total purse for the season.

If you won every race, you'd make approximately $400k. ($40k to win).

MIPS purse = $300k per race for Indy races. $187k per race (on double race weekends at Sonoma and St. Pete), and $275k per race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Watkins Glen International, Nashville Speedway, The Milwaukee Mile, Kentucky Speedway and Chicagoland Speedway.

Atlantics Purse is $100k per race, $25k to win.

                        -----

The purse increase fixes the income side of the equation leaving two other issues for correction.

The other two aspects are the exposure side and the car cost side.

Crash damage should be lower over the course of the season since it's now 50/50 road/ovals. That said, the cars still cost too much to repair and it's not the carbon fiber causing these costs. It's the bolt on stuff.

If it were up to me, I'd fix the exposure side by getting the MIPS on TV on Sunday or Monday nights. (doesn't even matter if it's late).

Well, I know wher the Toyota money came from, you could only use TRD approved parts. A set of $700.00 Carrilo rods for $1700.00.a $20.00 head gsk. for $90.00, $600.00 valve springs for $1300.00, 4 JE pistons for $1200.00, etc. I am sure the Cosy deal will be similar, but not as much mark-up, they actally manufacture their own pistons, rods, cams, etc.
