They got the words 'Indy' and 'International' bass ackwards. Figures. It's Australia. I don't care where it is, however. I do not want the word 'Indy' associated in any way with c^rt.

Who, in their right mind, even cares about the 'management' of c^rt anymore? Even Newman-Haas is about to be saved. Let's pluck the handful of remaining quality teams and drivers out of that mess and call it a day, shall we? We'll figure out how to dispose of the baggage later.

Each passing day offers additional validation of what I (and a lot of others) have been saying for years about that sleazy organization.

There is a time to go, and for them that time was a few years ago. The story has simply turned sad. None of their antics are good for the sport.

In my opinion, this sort of attitude is quickly becoming the norm.

“Premier Peter Beattie’s Indy funding will be far better invested in promoting a local motor sport that feeds massively back into the whole gamut of the local automotive industry, rather than helping prop up a dieing overseas sports series that has to buy its way on to US TV. Indeed it’s sobering to think CART is watched by less Americans for each race out of a population of 280 million, than watches the V8’s on Ten from a local base of just 20 million.”

Wait a minute, I thought Anton hated that word to begin with. Why is everyone(well hooter anyway) getting all upset about it's use??

BTW, why would the IRL, a series that supposedly is NA based appealing to NA companies doing an all-American racing style(oval) want to run at Queensland anyway? For Gods sake man, it's one of those gosh durn street racing parades. Who cares if it makes money and is the biggest event next to F1 down under?

                Biggest event??

Considering the Beattie Government pumps something like upwards of $24 million into Queensland’s biggest annual sporting event and AVESCO was probably only getting around $500,000 for its v8 Super Cars, while the failing CART gets almost $12 million for its race - guess who was being short changed? Market research and host broadcaster Channel 10 knows that the majority of fans at the Indy are there for the Super Cars and CART is more and more a sideshow attraction – and a ridiculously expensive one!

No, Anton does not hate that word.

I'm only upset when disingenuous clingers decide to use that word (for WHATEVER reason) to inaccurately portray another series. It confuses casual fans and is a lie.

Molson is guilty. The folks down under are guilty. Use of the word 'Indy' to describe 'racing' that is not Indy Racing is sleazy and dishonest.

CARTer's post from the story also answers the question of whether or not that race makes money.

Hmmm.... Carts pulling 12 mil a year from that race? And you call that not making money??? You'll note that the author states the the Cart race has "Become" less of an event the the supercars. Perfectly understandable. The Supercars have become the Nascar of Austrailia and honestly, put on a great show.

So the only way they can sell cart tickets in australia is to tie them to a Super car ticket package?

                        Now that is pretty sweet.

trac-champ, of course CART is making money at $12 million. But the Queensland government subsidizes it, as host governments around the world seem to do for F1. The article indicates the Queensland government isn't making money on it and it could feature the supercars and not hafta spend the $12 million.

My understanding is that the people want to see the supercars anyway and could care less about watching cart cut the race in half and then run half of that under yellow before slipping out of town with everyone's money.

Some people I know in Australia are still pretty cheezed about the whole thing. In fact, there are several groups threatening to throw cheeze at the drivers in the paddock.

I suppose if no one cares about the race, there is always the food fight for entertainment.
