  • Tracy on R-A: 'It's your fault...'

You terrible fans, you didn't show up like you promised:

It's not really my feelings that count. Sure, I'd like to stay here. Sure, I'd like to stay at Elkhart Lake. But it's up to the fans to make that happen. You know, it's not our responsibility. I mean, Elkhart Lake got put back on the schedule, and the fans didn't show up to support it that said they'd be there. That just put the nail in the coffin for Elkhart Lake. You know, sure, if you ask any racing driver, we'd love to race at Elkhart late. But when there's nobody there, then you can't afford to be there. It's the same for this venue. We all love to be here, but it's up to the fans to show up at the gate to make it a viable race. When you go to a street race and you get 180,000, 200,000 people for the weekend, you know, financially it's a much more viable product to put on than what happened at Elkhart.

One more 'last gasp' of pathetically desperate losers. Blame the fans.

    Smart.

I wish they'd hurry up on their march toward oblivion. I also hope we NEVER see Paul Tracy anywhere near an IRL race.

Well, hes kinda right. No matter how great the venue, if the fans dont show, neither will the cars. Its called economics.

And i dont blame you for not wanting Tracy in another IRL event... hes still 1/1.

I agree with you...although, for such a great track, to have that bad of attendance, even though it is raining, it pretty sad. Of course, when a bunch of no names are racing in a circuit, would you want to see them?

One more thing...you know, the same 60K or whatever they have on a daily basis and then multiplying that by 3 to have your weekend total is a lame attempt by C^RT to say they have great attendance at the street venues. All it is is the same fans that show up, and most of them don't know or care about the racing. There just there for the booze and the good looking honey's...a la the Trim Spa girls

True. But IMO he shouldn't have said it.

Speak for yourself. If there is no ride for PT in CART then I hope he does come to the IRL.

                Great venues with fading attendance?

                don't even go there racefans.

                PT in the IRL?

if he becomes available more than a few IRL owners will trample all over a lot of folks favorites to sign him.

i guess the IRL has made a living on racing without fans! , or rather once the fans show up for the BY400 everything will be ok!

Wow, this guy just doesn't get it. With the complete and utter cluster **** that led to this year's grand prix, the last thing a driver should be doing is blaiming the fans for not showing up.

Maybe if CART would give the fans something besides spec engines, year old cars and no-name drivers, the fans would show more interest.

Colossal mis-management and fading fan appeal are what are putting nails the the coffin. Perhaps Mr. Bigfish Tracy can't see that from the middle of his ever-shrinking pond.
I ain't quiet, everybody else is too loud.

One rather famous venue failed to fill the stands last May.

But I don't blame the fans.

Brother Tracy needs to look back at recent history when he refers to the RA clusterbleep.
RA has bounced all over the CART schedule in its entire history, from July to October.
Screwup #1: CART changed its Mid-Ohio date after Kentucky and the IRL changed to avoid conflict to put Mid-Ohio smack-dab back in competition with Kentucky.
Screwup #2: CART changed the Mid-Ohio date off the Kentucky date and changed Elkhart Lake so there wouldn't be three races in a row. In doing so, it put Elkhart's date opposite the EAA Fly-In at Oshkosh and the Brickyard 400.
Screwup #3: CART filed a lawsuit against RA and canceled its race. RA refunded advance ticket money to its fans. All bets were off.
Screwup #4: CART and RA mended their fences through Mario Andretti and put Elkhart back on the schedule with a few short months to prepare. No race sponsor, no nothing.
Screwup #5: CART and RA maintained the insane date that CART transferred for the race.
This had nothing to do with drivers. This had nothing to do with fans. This had nothing to do with Tracy. This was a huge administrative screwup by CART from Day #1, rivaled only by the Texas fiasco of a few years ago.
Make no mistake about it: This is Pook's biggest "pookie."
