Finally some better weather over much of the nation and the rating continue their slide from previous years. The flat or marginally better ratings earlier in the year may have only been the "bad weather" effect.

        • But Kyle Busch spanked the field.

          Who wouldn't want to watch?

          Well, besides me?

              1.45

I was way wrong when I called a 2.5 the "new normal" last summer.

The Pocono race was on FOX sports cable network, FS1, not on the FOX broadcast channel like the Coke 600.

DVR . . . . Life is too short to watch commercials.

Yes, sorry, I should have made that more clear. The Pocono race was on Fox Sports 1. The Coke 600 was on FOX.

                  • I guess the Coke 600 must have gotten a decent rating since it wasn't mentioned in this thread.

About the opposite of the Pocono race. Not a bad showing.

                          • Its a crappy number but that's to be expected at 5pm EST on a Monday when 3/4 of the country is still at work.

I think Fox shoehorned the race in wherever they could fit it after some soccer game

They had a snowballs chance of getting anything close to a good number.

Therefore, meaningless and not indicative of anything good or bad.

I think they call it an outlier

I did hear that MIS cleared out the runway behind the grandstands to allow those attending the race to park on the asphalt instead of sloshing through the muddy parking areas. Which is pretty cool.

                              • It has been conventional wisdom to disregard Monday rain out ratings since forever. However in this age of near universal DVRs and the ability of many to watch on their cell phone if the boss isn't looking, I don't know about that any more.
