  • INDYCAR: Stay away from Chicagoland!

INDYCAR, please do not schedule CHICAGOLAND.

Those guys can't promote their way out of a paper bag!

Did ANY of you SEE the crowd at the Nationwide Race Sunday? DISMAL! Maybe 13,000. MAYBE. In a metropolitan area of 8 Million. On a nice day.

And there was NOTHING ELSE GOING ON!

    There is no excuse.

If Indycar had a race there, no one would be talking about the race. They would be talking about the LACK of a CROWD.

    PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM CHICAGOLAND!

Wow, it's almost like stock car racing is coming out of a decade or so of aberrationally high popularity and is having trouble adjusting to a future in which far fewer people want to spend a summer day sitting in grandstands under a hot sun watching cars race. Huh. I wonder how that adjustment will go.

Every race IndyCar had at Chicagoland easily had three times the crowd the Nationwide race yesterday had.

IndyCars are also 20 times more exciting at Chicagoland than stock cars. Stock cars at Chicagoland is the equivalent to watching paint dry (this coming from someone who had been to almost every race at Chicagoland until last year).

Chicagoland isn't the problem, the boring stock cars are the problem.

If you don't want IndyCar to go back to Chicagoland, you must not be a race fan. It is easily one of the best tracks for IndyCars outside of Indianapolis.

I thought it looked closer to 562.

Pretty good race for Sammy though.

Nationwide and ARCA are minor league products and draw minor league crowds. The sparse attendence is to be expected.

I'm not in favor of partnering with Cup for anything but yesterday showed both sides could help each other a bit in unique situations like this.

Indycar gets help getting into bigger places like this
Nascar and the track can sell a bigger bang for the fan's buck
The fan gets more bang for his buck
I'd rather have 10% of the world interested in the ICS than 50% of US that NASCAR currently has

Maybe the Nationwide Series should go back to Hickory instead

Nationwide has NEVER sold at Chicagoland on its own. The crowds dwarf the worst IndyCar ones there. Regardless, because the track is owned by ISC/NASCAR, it's more profitable based on TV money to race in front of nobody.

The last indycar race had pathetic attendance also. But yesterday was half of that crowd. Indycar should be wary of returning there.

They are very similar to Indycar, i.e. no interesting drivers.

I saw an IndyCar race there - it was awesome- I think everyone who was there that day would agree- it was the finish where no one could tell if Helio or Dixon won at the line for a couple of minutes and both went to Victory Lane

I hope to see them back there again someday- no reason it can't all work again
