  • ESPN ratings for Chase finale up

3.3 on ESPN over 3.2 on ABC from 2009. I think they would've been much higher on ABC this year, there was nothing important on ABC yesterday.

For the 25th race out of 36 this season and 9 out of the 10 'Chase' races, I didn't even see one lap. I'm not proud of that, it's sad really...I used to be a huge fan.

You missed a good race this week

The racing this year has been the best in years. But I understand your feelings, I haven't been to an Indycar race in 6 years and have seen about 50 laps of Indycar on TV in last 4.

Not saying you're wrong, however I heard that Carl Edwards won the race, and I despise him. And that Jimmie Johnson 'again' won the Cup title, who I also strongly dislike. In light of this the word 'missed' is not appropriate for me. :tsk:

I don't want to help influence or instigate the thread going off-topic by having IndyCar brought in as a comparison. However as many don't care for it due to Penske & Ganassi winning all the time (which I can respect and appreciate), the same can be said for me about NASCAR and Jimmie Johnson. And Hendrick used to be my favorite race team in NASCAR.

I agree with your opinion about Carl after what he did to Brad K. twice this year.

I was rooting for Hamlin or Harvick, but my girlfriend loves Jimmie. So lets just say I had a nice evening following the race

And that's why I have that opinion of Carl. I actually used to like the guy.

I wanted to see Brad's father take matters in his own hands at Gateway. Carl is a punk.

Last year's finale had a 3.6 on ABC:

ABC’s live coverage of the Ford 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Nov. 22 earned a final national household rating of 3.6, averaging 5,606,608 viewers. The rating was down from a 4.0 [with a 7 share] for last year’s event that also aired on ABC.

A 3.3 on ESPN equates to about a 2.8 network number.

It was a good race. I watched most of it. The local early NFL games were crap.

I think Hamlin talks too much smack for a kid that has done a little but not alot so I was hoping he would choke and he did.

Champions dont qualify 37th on the most important weekend of their career and champions dont knock the sh*t out of their front end in a wreck they caused on a weekend where all they needed to do was NOT knock the sh*t out of their front end and finish ahead of one other driver

the manufactured closest finish in years did nothing to goose the ratings.

But today on sirius they STILL were talking to any one who called to complain about the chase like they are retarded.

Listen or stop wondering where the viewers went!

                    JMHO

                    YMMV

Well, you tend to prove the point that it's about the drivers and not necessarily the cars or the engines.

OTOH it would seem a real fan could appreciate talent regardless of the driver's personality.

So, what is there to appreciate about auto racing?

Both ratings & attendance for the entire season were abysmal... it appears to have ended with the same wimper it began with.

Don't even go there. If you've ever paid attention to anything I posted you know full well of all the reasons why my interest in NASCAR has declined sharply the past 3-4 years. Since you obviously haven't you have no room to try and chastise me. :nono:

6 of the 10 Chase races drew fewer viewers than Danica's Nascar debut in the Nationwide race at Daytona in February.

Far too often, NASCAR's product doesn't feel like auto racing.
