  • Charlotte to one-up Cowboys: World's biggest HD video screen

Related Racing Biz: Noted use of CHARLOTTE Motor Speedway, not LOWES.

The track announced Tuesday that it plans to add a 200-foot-wide, 80-foot-tall high-definition video screen to its backstretch grandstands in time for its May 2011 NASCAR competition.

CMS officials say the screen will be the world’s largest high-definition video board. It will be used to show live race broadcasts, plus leader updates, instant replays and sponsor information.
Bruton Smith one ups Jerry Jones. Jerry World (Cowboys Stadium) will lose claim to largest HD video screen.

I wonder if that will cause any visibilty issues for drivers going into turn 3 during a night race

Im assuming they plan on putting it where they have it in that photo.

Lowes naming rights... 10 year deal signed in 1999... end of the contract with no re-up equals 'Charlotte Motor Speedway'. No surprise... everyone knew that they were parting ways last year... (well, apparently not everybody...)

I think they had crews on I-77 & I-85 the day the contract ended cuz the highway signs all said Charlotte Motor Speedway almost immediately

"... new track sponsor Panasonic." I wonder how BIG that sponsorship is besides being 200' x 80'?

Note: In article it says "new track sponsor Panasonic" so no need to call it Lowes Motor Speedway, although I wonder if it will be called "Panasonic Motor Speedway" in the future.

I'm glad Indy has not sold out its name or the 500's name. They would loose more than they would gain if they ever did sell the naming rights.
