  • Panoz got paid

    According to Murphy the Bear:

Champ Car receivers have settled with PMG. The builders of the DP01 get a mill and a half cash. (Plus “other valuable consideration” involving a certain race track.) That might not seem like much, but there will be a bunch of CCWS creditors getting a heck of a lot less. The PMG race car designing and building business has lost some key personnel lately. Murphy’s not heard they’ve been replaced – yet anyway.

    Let's break this down.....

Champ Car receivers have settled with PMG.
    So, they did owe Panoz.

The builders of the DP01 get a mill and a half cash. (Plus “other valuable consideration” involving a certain race track.)
certain track? Let's make a guess that Road Atlanta is going to get a date, woo-hoo.

Panoz also owns Mosport and Sebring.....maybe one of those gets a date?

Mosport & RA are definitely courses that would rock for big time OW cars.

Or maybe we are looking at this backwards. CC/KK/GF owed Panoz, not Tony/IMS/ICS.

Maybe the "consideration" is that Atlantics race for a time as a support series at Panoz tracks for no sanction fee.

Or maybe Tony had to agree to rent Sebring for spring testing for 5 years. Or something.

I just don't see ICS adding any of Panoz' race tracks next year, not with the likely competition for dates.

I think it would be cool to pigyback the IRL there in Octorber with the sportscars, or even the Sunday after the 12 hours.

One bad thing about the absorbtion is that a lot of good race tracks will sit unused.

I think looking at Panoz tracks is casting your net too narrowly.

Probably Sebring as a guaranteed, preferred test site.

Of course they did, there was a number of years worth of spares and some additional cars still to be delivered. The DP01s that have been delivered have always been paid for (Except the test car, which Panoz still owns.)

Maybe Panoz gets cut into the Long Beach action?

Panoz has a major facility at TMS for their Racing School. Maybe something going on there?

" “other valuable consideration” involving a certain race track " could mean the Don gets free tickets to Indy... for the Brickyard 400...

Not any longer. I believe the Panoz Racing School is defunct. Facilities at TMS are now being used by the track.
