NASCAR's Ratings still going up at Bristol

Hadn't seen this posted anywhere for those that care. But Bristol pulled a 5.0 rating overnight, up from a 4.9 overnight last year (5.1 was the final last year and traditionally Bristol pulls higher finals than overnights by at least a couple of points). Not as dramatic an increase as previous weeks, but up none the less and it stops a skid of several years for the Spring Bristol race as well. This despite the weather troubles, NCAA basketball, Tiger Woods setting new records (guy is a stud), F1 racing now being available, etc...

You may not have been suicidal, but some people were getting their jollies off last year because NASCAR was declining. Just posting the counterpoint that this year is turning out to be.

Yes, getting jollies over anything negative as regards NASCAR is pretty common here--it's certainly easier than improving the alternative.

For perspective...

Fox's coverage of Bristol still sees a bump in viewers, (albeit slight) against some pretty stout counter-programming.... 5/3.8 million

NBC's coverage of Tiger staying perfect at The Palmer Invitational saw a 61% increase in overnight numbers compared to last year's event... 4.2/3.2 million

And ABC's coverage of Houston going for its 22nd consecutive win against Kobe and the Lakers drew 81% better than the Mavs/Pistons game in the same time slot last year... 2.9/2.2 million

Id' say they held their own pretty well...
