ALMS: Series Announces Another Partnership with Patrَn

    Written by: ALMS Communications http://www.americanlemans.com 03/06/2008 - 03:37 PM
    Sebring, Florida

Tequila Patrَn, an ultra-premium spirits brand, has entered into a marketing partnership with the American Le Mans Series for 2008. The new partnership encompasses title sponsorship of the Long Beach round of the Series as well as a unique trackside activation program to be known as Club Patrَn.

The American Le Mans Series race in Long Beach on April 12 will be named the “Tequila Patrَn American Le Mans Series at Long Beach.” Patrَn will launch its partnership program at the 56th running of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh from Florida (March 12-15) where Club Patrَn will appear for the first time. Dubbed by many in the industry as a hospitality club extraordinaire, it features a relaxed club-like atmosphere and a decidedly upscale ambiance where American Le Mans Series adult fans can mingle and enjoy several selections of Tequila Patrَn beverages.

“The Patrَn Spirits Company is looking forward to a great new partnership with the American Le Mans Series and Tequila Patrَn-Highcroft Racing,” said Ed Brown, President/CEO, Patrَn Spirits Company. “We are looking for a long-term relationship with the Series, which we believe addresses our marketing objectives better than any other motorsports platform can provide. We also want to add value to the Series’ marketing objectives and are very open to striving to achieve both corporate goals.”

Patrَn entered the world’s premier sports car series earlier this year through a sponsor association with Highcroft Racing, Acura’s top team a year ago and based out of Danbury, CT. Highcroft races an Acura ARX-01b in the Series’ LMP2 class with drivers Scott Sharp and David Brabham at the helm. Stefan Johansson will join the duo for Sebring’s endurance classic. A year ago, it captured four podium positions and an overall pole at Houston’s Lone Star Grand Prix.

“To have an ultra-premium brand like Tequila Patrَn join the Series as a new corporate partner validates and reaffirms our own premium brand positioning as well,” said Ed Triolo, Vice President of Marketing and Brand Development for the American Le Mans Series. “The best part, however, is seeing Patrَn’s enthusiasm for activating elements that will enhance both of our brands and enhance the at-track experience for our loyal fans.”

The 2008 American Le Mans Series season opens with the 56th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh from Florida on Saturday, March 15. The race will start at 10 a.m. ET and will be broadcast live by SPEED, which will begin its coverage at 9:30 a.m. MotorsTV, Fox Latin America, 7TV in Russia and Greenlight Television will provide international coverage as well. American Le Mans Radio and IMSA’s Live Timing & Scoring will be available at http://www.americanlemans.com.

What, the Club Patron wouldn't have been a good fit at Iowa or Kentucky? I would think ALMS is a much more direct way of speaking to their audience than ICS was. :tg

Doesn't the ALMS race in Utah?! How would Club Patron work there?

Telling Patron that they couldn't sponsor races (if true) is still the single most idiotic thing I've ever heard of in sports business.

I didn't drink Patron much before and I can 100% guarantee you I will never drink it again. I care not about ALMS. Always rooted for IndyCar driver Scott Sharp before, but couldn't care less about his exploits now.

You're not missing much. It's good, but falls short of Don Julio Tequila.

My gut feeling is that the demographic Patron is looking for is more similar to the demographic that ALMS brings than the one ICS did here-to-fore. That's all.

Unless there is a reason behind it. It seems to me that the IRL might have a big title sponsor lined up but had to make AOW racing one first. And that they wouldn't have liked a hard liquor sponsor as a race sponsor.
