This is a band from out of Cincinnati that plays bluegrass and a little Jug Band music. The upright bass player is Jason Soudrette. He currently is not with the band. Marriage and a family has turned the focus some. Also for the past several years he has been a race driver as well, first with mini-sprints and the past 4-5 years with a 410 non-wing sprint. Lately he has been facing some very serious health issues. He just finished another session of chemo to fight leukemia and just about 2 weeks ago received a bone marrow transplant. His medical issues are similar to Robin Roberts of Good Morning America fame. We are all in high hopes the transplant is just what he needs to lick this.

Jason once told me he played a little bit in a band. After investigating I'm thinking "Dude you did much more than that." The've even backed up Iris Dement. Good stuff.

The last we heard this week therapy is going well and the immunity system is up. The set back is the immunity system is attacking things in the body it shouldn't which is confirmation that it is in an unfamiliar body. All and all good news on a long and sometimes bumpy road. Hopefully I explained it correctly. My medical training consists solely on two years of watching Marcus Welby MD.

The latest Facebook update on day 44 of the fight, the same number that is on his sprint car. I'll cut and paste his comments from now on. I'm not a medical man and I'd definitely not the fighter he is.

Lucky Day 44! Docs are somewhat hinting that my G v. H maybe healing and my gut is on the mend. That light is getting brighter I'll tell ya. The past two weeks were some dark times. You really have to take some serious hits to stay in the fight. You guys keep me going day in and day out. The end isn't quite as close as I would like, but my health is priority #1 right now. I hope nothing but happiness and good fortune to everyone who's stood behind me through this still ongoing journey. Thank you.

I googled for some pics to see if there were any of him in his sprint. There are some including Lawrenburg. This is just a random one I grabbed - don't know where it's at.

Definately Jason in the #44. It is probably at Lawrenceburg, his home track. Another gem of a photo by Rick Lane.

              FB post around 10AM today.

Ok. I've knocked on every piece of wood I could locate in my hospital room for the last 20 minutes. Lead doctor tells me this morning "We want you outta here by the end of this week." YYYYYYEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
              Excellent news.

I am deeply saddened to report that Jason Soudrette passed away early today. The doctors did everything they could including a bone marrow transplant early this summer and Jason fought the good fight with every ounce of strength he had but it wasn't enough.
