  • What's Your "Secret" TV Show?

OK, everyone has one... it's the show that you stumble across late at night after the missus is asleep, and darned if you don't watch the whole thing. And you'd be embarrassed to admit it.

Or maybe it's a show that you make a point to TiVo and watch alone, to spare yourself the groaning of others in the house.

For me, it's "Cops". If my wife is ever out of town, I'll cue up a few of these on TiVo, put the kids to bed, then sit down with a large pizza and chonk-lit puddin' for a few awesome hours of bustin' the drunk-arse bad guy. Ohhhhhh yeaaaaaaah....

Oh, and sometime I just. can't. pass. up. on MacGyver.

(Keep it CLEAN please -- we don't want to hear about THAT.)

    I'm with you. "Cops."

My wife calls it 'that guy show' and puts it in the same category as "The Three Stooges."

Both, fine entertainment, in my book.

Love Cops--it's the only thing my wife and I ever agree on so far as TV is concerned, we set aside an hour every Saturday for "Bad Boys"--but it's not really what I'd call a guilty pleasure. I'll stay up all night watching those "Wildest Police Videos" shows too, but again, I don't mind admitting it. Same goes for The Man Show or MXC.

Wrestling though...it's just too ridiculous. Used to love watching Greg "The Hammer" Valentine and "Handsome" Jimmy (The Boogie-Woogie Man, The Boy From New York City) Valiant or Sergeant Slaughter (and Private Kernodle) and before that, Dick The Bruiser, Pepper Gomez, et. al. Roller Derby too. Today's stuff is so over the top I wouldn't dare let my son watch it, but I will. I haven't seen any episodes of Rollergirls yet, but somehow I bet I'd enjoy that too.

Also...occasionally I will happen upon one of those kitschy romance movies on Lifetime, linger for a moment, and get hooked thoroughly. One on regular TV that got me completely was Barbara Taylor Bradford's A Woman Of Substance...I even read the increasingly awful books, I got so into those. It could just have been that Jenny Seagrove was so adorable, but the story (at least in the first two) was pretty engrossing too.

The Newlywed Game. A Chuck Barris production. Nothing more need be said.

My guilty pleasure show is Saved by the Bell. I can't explain it.

Match Game. Where else could you watch "stars" taking drags on coffin nails while helping house frau's win a thousand bucks? Also, check out some of their Christmas and New Year's shows where most of the cast is lit, and lighting, up. Great stuff.

Match Game is a lock on my Tivo. Nothing touches it for pre-political correctness television.

Hate that show. One of the few game shows that made it really difficult to play along. What's the point?

I don't look for it but when I surf upon MTV's "Sweet 16" I fall off my board it's like being given a heads up on a car accident... it might not be ugly now but before the show is over I don't care how much the gown or the party cost or how much make-up the spoiled brat is wearing things get ugly.

Ive been made to feel guilty about watching a lot of shows. Currently, they would be:

The old "Car and Track" shows now introduced by Junior.

Any NASCAR racing. But after 2, I'm about done for the season anyway. Once the Fox crew comes on, I have to mute them or go insane.

Seinfeld. Spouse hates it, I think it's the funniest show ever.

...my last girlfriend was a huge fan of 'COPS'. We watched it on CourtTV, FOX, FOX Reality Channel and any other channel it would be on. I think I've seen every episode of Cops at least twice, and some I know word-for-word. Needless to say since we split I haven't watched one episode.

And with being single again and with no kids I don't have to wait to any certain time to watch whatever I want to watch!

I'm not one to really 'flip-thru' channels and I rarely watch network television outside of sporting events. Most times around my place it's just a few channels that are usually watched....one of the History Channels, Biography Channels, one of the Discovery channels, SPEED or NASA-TV.

That said, I have found myself tuned to TV Land more than a few times to watch 'Sanford & Son'.

I was going to say NASCAR but I didn't feel like stirring things up...

I guess this bug must be worse than I thought.
