They're being very tight lipped about the identity of the pilot or the reason for ejection.
Suspicious minds might go to a pilot whose loyalties lie outside the US, who might have pointed it out to sea for a "hostile" ship to pick it up.

Remember the military fighter that went missing about 25 years ago over Colorado? Lots of theories before they found the wreckage in the mountains.
