I'm not a Michael Irvin fan, but he said the pipe was not his, but belonged to a friend who has been trying to kick the habit and was spending Thanksgiving with his family.

Anyoine with the sad experience of having seen one of your friends or family members get caught up in cocaine know that it's an addiction that one never gets rid of.

I’ll admit up front, that my only knowledge of drug arrests comes entirely from watching the TV show “COPS”, but just about every time they find drugs, guns, etc. in a car the suspects almost universally say;

“It isn’t mine...”
“I didn’t know it was there...”
“Some guy I gave a ride to left it there...”
“Someone else left it in the car...”
“I’m just holding it for a friend...”
Etc., etc., etc.

So Irving’s “it belonged to a friend who has been trying to kick the habit” line sounds like something the cops have probably heard a few times before.

But I do hope he's treated fairly, of course.
