  • Anyone planning to risk life and limb?

The Friday after thanksgiving traditionally creates a shopping frenzy that reminds me of the running of the bulls. This ritual allows consumer fanatics to participate in a mob intending to win the best deal and avoiding the dreaded "sorry, we are sold out" speech. The marketing manipulation responsible
is a masterpiece of behaviour modification. Artificial shortages to drive demand frequently forces substitute purchases by those itching to fulfill the imperative to avoid going home empty handed.

You might conclude that I intend to avoid the adrenaline laced human herd compelled to shop.

My wife, sister and mother will be meeting @ 5:00 in the morning and won't return until about midnight.

I'm going to put a fire in the fireplace and enjoy the peace & quiet.

Not me! (though the sales in the Meijer newspaper flyer were tempting). I notice that the sales are starting at 5 a.m. instead of 6 this year.

My start time at work is early enough that I value the days when I can sleep in at least til 7 a.m.

        No way.

I will be assembling furniture for my babe's new office.

I just got in around 5AM for a scheduled IPL of a platform of our MVS system. There were other people walking normally don't get in to later. Apparently they had already been out and about. I was talking with one guy who made this early 'mad-dash' sound like a sport. He had his wife and kids running to various parts of Best Buy looking for certain items while moving through a sea of other shoppers!!!

          F-That!

On a side note I saw 2 people pulled over this AM en route to work. If that was for speeding then shame on them cops.... Like anyone WANTS to be going to work on the Friday after Thanksgiving.
Some people are like a Slinky .... Not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile
when you shove them down the stairs.
