It's just a backdrop to the fact that the DNC's strategy was to hope everything goes wrong, that way people will desert the Republicans, and come in droves voting for them.
Unfortunately for them as things look up more and more each day, people are going to take a "1996 state of mind," in other words a status quo to see how well things turn out in the end. -

And in a stunning bit of good news, Al Gore made the mistake of endorsing Howard Dean for President.
The next 12 months will expose Dean for the fanatical left winger he is and seal a landslide victory for our President.
