  • Liberal Radio Network

Looks like some libs are trying to strart a liberal radio network to compete with Rush & the EIB Network.

Funny, I don't remember Rush purchasing any radio stations....seems he merely cashed the checks they pay him to carry his show.

Why do the libs need to purchase radio stations? I know why. Because a liberal radio talk show will never fly. See, if I want to hear the liberals' take on anything I can simply tune into CNN or either of the major networks.

Wasn't Mario Cuomo the last Great Liberal Hope?

They already have NPR and according to Bill O'Reilly, it's on our dime.

I'd say there are plenty of FM "talk" stations that fit the bill of "liberal radio" already.

They're usually filled with a bunch of pot-head Deejays left over from the 70's...spouting every reason why pot should be legalized, and how it's "some sort of government conspiracy" as to why pot isn't legal already.

They are the so-called "hip" talk stations, and all they do is bash Republicans and glamourize illegal, illicit, and immoral behavior. They have somewhat of a following, but without music from time to time, they suck bad. Pretty much they are only "preaching to their choir" however. No self-respecting conservative would pollute their ears with the uneducated dribble that comes from those "FM talk" stations. The only people who listen are those who are into that stuff.

I'm kind of curious, is this in response to the civil war at Pacifica? Or something similar? Those folks don't seem to welcome fiscal responsibility.

Regardless of your opinion on Limbaugh, he gets people to listen. His distributor doesn't care if he's liberal, conservative, or independent.

As long as they he puts a broadcast on, daily, that people want to listen to, they'll be a market for him.

It's not as though any radio distributor would turn away a show that people want to listen to based on political views.

          So why buy stations?

            Ha ha!

I got this off of an AOL article, I'm afraid the link is for internal AOL users only.

It lists the possible radio hosts' "qualifications."

-Al Franken: Feuds with Bill O'Reilly; Called Rush Limbaugh an "idiot"
-Janeane Garofalo: Anti-war activist; Took on Tucker Carlson as guest host of CNN's "Crossfire"
-Michael Moore: Yells with the best of them
-Martin Sheen: Plays the president on TV
-Bill Clinton: husband of a New York senator; Comes with built-in audience

Pretty sad state of affairs for the Liberals if that's what they're peddling as qualifications

Right, those stations don't care if he's taking about recipies, racing, or Republicans. If it's SELLING AD time, it getting on the air. People listen (whether they agree or not), and that's what matters to them.

The advertisers must be getting a return, because there's no shortage of them.

Yep. He leeches off Rush's fame, as well as Bill O'Reilly. Bottom feeder.

Talk radio for liberals - this aught to be fun. What "positive" will they be able to offer. To most "liberal talking heads" - nothing is good in the US. Everything is wrong, nothing can be fixed without raising (raiding my bilfold) taxes.

Oh, you mean that book that sells on the Barnes & Noble discount rack for $3.00? I think the title is "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot?" Pretty classy title from a goofy looking geek. Honestly, I think he looks more like a curly haired Nutty Professor(The Jerry Lewis version of course).

"Hi there, America! And welcome to the first broadcast of the LIB--Liberals in Broadcasting--Radio Network.

"I know, you're expecting us to talk about how dangerous Bush is, and what a fool Rush is, and how government should redistribute income by taxing the h@ll out of the rich and giving all that money to welfare mothers and crackheads and all that. But, ya know what? We're not gonna do it.

"Instead, we're going to talk about what real liberalism is. And, what is that, you might ask? Well, dig way back to your high school civics class, assuming your high school had one, and obtain enlightenment: Liberalism is the receptivity to new ideas as potential solutions for ongoing problems.

"Yeah--we're actually gonna bounce new ideas off of you. Imagine that--new ideas!--not cliches, not sound bites, not position statements, not the same tired old crap that politicians spew pretty much every even-numbered year to get your vote, but bonafide, grade-A, 100-percent, genuinely new ideas.

"And guess what? They won't all be good! In fact, some may be genuinely and demonstrably stupid! Still, being truly liberal, we think you need to know they're out there. Besides, they'll help the ones that ARE good stand out a whole lot more.

"So, America, are you ready for some new ideas? Are you ready to consider that maybe, just maybe, there's a better way than the way we're doing it now? Can you handle that discussion without dragging individuals and their personalities into it? Can you accommodate multiple viewpoints and weigh each on their face before demonizing any of them? ARE YOU READY TO SEIZE ONE OF THE MOST CHERISHED FREEDOMS THIS COUNTRY GIVES YOU, FOR WHICH THOUSANDS OF GOOD AMERICANS DIED SO YOU COULD HAVE IT?

                            "Good idea. Let's begin."

If they treat it like that and stick with it, I'd give it a listen.
"I didn't hear a single comment about airboxes, "carbashians", or how terrible the car looked. I did see dozens and dozens of little kids in awe of the speed and how cool the cars looked. We should learn from our children."
