Kennedy's overtly racist language stunned even liberal CNN correspondent Jonathan Karl
            Seriously,
Mr. Dolan and Mr. Austin have their panties in a knot about somebody calling someone else Neandertals and think this is racist.

Last I heard Neandertals were a slow-witted group of caucasians who got clubbed out of existence by a faster witted group of caucasians. How this is faintly racist beats me.
However to say that Janice Rogers Brown is slow witted is not racist, but simply stating facts. Apparently none of the people so hot after Kennedy bothered to listen to her testimony before Congress. She make Clarence Thomas sound like a mental giant.

akimbo, sorry to hear of your disregard for negative remarks made toward African-Americans.

Teddy's remarks were far worse than that of Rush Limbaugh.

Typical liberal argument. Anybody who disagrees with liberalism is just soo stupid. So far, you have called the President stupid, a brilliant jurist from California slow witted, and implied the same out of one of the greatest minds in the history of the bench in Thomas.

If Justice Brown is so slow witted, I'm sure she would have no chance at being confirmed by the US Senate, so I an assume they will allow a vote on her confirmation.

Boy, do liberals despise black conservatives!

Of course it will be overlooked and forgotten about - it was stated by a lib and libs don't eat their own; just some one who does not agree with them. That is a concervative trait. And concervatives are open to others ideas and accept "things" as normal operating conditions. to be "loved"and accepted by a lib.

You really don't know much about them do you...

                    1. There is nothing to indicate they were slow-witted...
                    2. There is evidence they buried their dead in a ritualistic manner..
                    3. There is evidence that the stereotypical stooped presentation was due to bone degeneration of the original find...theywalked everybit as upright as modern man...
4.There is nothing presented in the literature that would preclude them from being capable of language...
                    5. Some groups in Australia have the same dental structure as did Neanderthals

Now, having said all that, I suggest that Teddy boy was attempting to denigrate the candidates by using such language...and yes, I realise it has no racial connotations...

Growing - up in the Boston blue-collar neighborhoods of the 40s and 50s I can say I am no fan of the Kennedeys and the partisan politics they stood for at that level of government.

neanderthal- regardless of what it "technically" or "actually" means has come to stand for backwardness (such is the plight of the vanquished)

It's not too difficult a stretch to see Kennedy's connection of conservative with neanderthal to describe the nominees "backward" views

That said, I find it a mark of mundane progress in race-relations that someone (rightly or wrongly) can label their enemies as backward without giving in to the fears of being labelled as insensitive or racist because a few may be minorities.

                      Hope they all get seated!
We need more neanderthalls in the caves of DC.

Neither Dolan nor I addresed what Kennedy said, so I think you have a little democratic party smoke coming out of your....uhhhh, never mind.

But hey, if you want to open up target practise, the first rule is to get off the range, which you aren't.

                        CLEAR......................

Oh, seriously? Well, let's all put or assclown hats on if we are going to be serious.

Wow. I mention Kennedy was responsible for the death of someone and my panties are in a knot, for bringing up a little of the man's history? I'm sorry I can't identify with Mr. Kennedy's apparent daily drunken stupor. Then again, I never killed anyone either (absolutely quite the opposite), so my concious is clean. I don't need to get slammed out of my mind just to get out of bed and face the day and what I've done..

Oh, that's right. It's his personal life. It doesn't matter. It doesn't effect how he serves the public. translation: He's a democrat. He gets a pass, even if he kills someone.

I didn't get drunk, drive off a bridge, kill my pregnant (alleged) mistress and leave the scene of the accident. Mr. Kennedy may not quite have done all of that either, but there are alot of unanswered question surrounding that night.

The democrats believe someone like that is worthy to represent them? The democrats will defend him after what he's done? well, lookie what they are made of.

Driving off a bridge and leaving the woman in the car to drown?

Yeah, he's a really fine one to call others any kind of name, but that's the only play left in the democrat party handbook once you have disgraced yourself in such a fashion.

Hey, akimbo, I've had to be given mouth to mouth and was flatline twice in scuba rescue operations. I've saved dozens of lives while giving my own no regard. I've drowned saving people's lives and I won't listen to this kind of nonsense when Kennedy only had the nads to save himself and leave the woman behind.

                            apology...sort of

Well, it was too harsh, but once you have drowned trying to save someone, it's a little hard to swallow the notion your panties are in a wad when you show distain for someone who swims away and doesn't look back.

So, it was too harsh, and it was just opinion anyway. I don't even know what the guy said and I didn't address what he said.
I don't really even care about the politics except it always seems to be the democrats that are critisizing people and calling them names when they personally have done far, far worse, particularily in this case. If a Republican was involved in a suspicious fatality the media would chew him up in a heartbeat and wouldn't relent until he was utterly destroyed.

If you remember the utter stink over George's DUI, which harmed no one, which he took responsibility for, and then see the questions that still surround what happened with Senator Kennedy, it does seem a little lopsided the senator is allowed to have a public career.

It's just opinion anyway. I know when it counted I behaved differently than the senator and I live with that quite comfortably, if not proudly.
