Just watched the ABC interview with Jessica Lynch.
Maybe she's not the Rambo type hero she was made out to be, but I'll tell you what, that little girl is tough. At 19 she's seen more he!! than most of us ever will. I think it's appropiate at this time to thank all of our veterans.. Thanks Dog, and any others here I'm missing.

She did her duty with honor, nothing more & nothing less. And, that's enough. Those of us ex-military that were fortunate (lucky) enough to never have to see combat can only have an inkling of what she must have went through even before her injuries and subsequent capture (I know sometimes I would wake up at night and wonder if I could really "perform" when it came right down to it). She's a hero just by showing up, as are all the rest.

As an ex-tank commander, those are the guys that will always have a special place in my heart. I guess that goes for anyone who served in a combat specialty (especially). In one sense, they really only went one step beyond my experience....but oh what a MIGHTY and FEARSOME step that is!!

God has a way of making us pay attention to things, doesn't He? Prayers for your friend. The odds are greater that he'll make it home from this; still, war is war.

The really sad thing about the "Lynch" story has been the role of the media. One member of her unit killed 7 Iraqis, was awarded the Silver Star, but we never hear about him. While Jessica was plugging her book on Veterans Day he was at a base in Alaska.

War should not be a media event.

I'll agree that the media isn't helping the situation, but the real problem lies with the fact that Jessica Lynch is in no mental shape to be writing and promoting a book at this point.

As an armchair psychologist, it's pretty obvious that she is feeling guilt over surviving the experience while everyone else in that humvee was killed. She really shouldn't have to tell her story until she's mentally prepared to do so. The publishers and TV Movie producers floated a whole lot of money in front of a girl who grew up in Appalachia and she took the bait.

All of this in no way takes away my admiration for all who don the uniform in defense of and service to our country.

You are right Rev, and she also has some really deep fears of most Iraquis. Heck, she hasn't even thanked the guy that hiked all those miles back and forth to notify the Americans of her whereabouts. Is she afraid of him for some reason? Maybe its justified, maybe its been ingrained in her by the Army about the enemy.

I hate to sound conspiracy theorist, but there seems to be a lot more to her story than anyone's willing to tell. (Akimbo et al, that's not an invitation to attack the Bush administration; I'm speaking at a purely human level here.)

We could have waited a couple more years for this. Let the girl heal.

                    nekid pictures now?

This girl is gonna retreat deep into the woods soon. She isn't equipped to handle the kind of pressure that the media can bring.

In the end the pressure of being in the hands of the Iraqis will seem tame to her compared to the media in this country.

                      true dat!

I was cussin' the tv when Diane Sawyer would wrinkle up her forehead and ask Pfc. Lynch leading questions trying to bait her into criticism or acting like a victim.
