  • 2019 Grammy for Best Song - This is America

Just in case I missed the conversation about this masterpiece,
I thought I would share it today.
I believe I made it up to :54...

Just reaffirms that I am old and don't take in much new 'music'...

I must say, the groundswell of apathy for this work of art is most disheartening...

When paired with the video I find it mildly entertaining, and have watched it a few times. I can't imagine listening to the song without the visuals. Certainly not "song" of the year, but perhaps "music video performance art" of the year, and maybe that's all that matters these days. I did pop over to the Grammys a few times this year, and every time it was some atrocious musical performance that I couldn't take more than a few seconds of.

On a related note I watched A Star is Born last night, interesting reflection of the modern music industry. Good old boy country rocker meets young pop tart. Gaga is a talented lady , but when her character is performing after she "breaks out" it's pure pop BS. Dance, dance, lip sync a line, dance, dance, as rocker husband shakes his head at what "music" has become.
