  • Happy Holidays

You may have disdain for sullen teenagers with their noses stuck in an iPhone and dislike anything Apple and what we Apple fanboys shove at you. You may also bemoan the secularization of Christmas with happy holidays, but I dare you to watch this without welling up.

OK Numb, you can admit it if you watched it one or two times or maybe 10 by yourself.

I readily admit that I am a 'well up' guy, but I refuse to admit which movies do it to me.
            But that clip----nah...

I just do not understand why Apple shot a commercial for GoPro.

That's a pretty touching commercial, like 'numb I am a prone to welling up.

But it still doesn't stop me from my one-man tirade against the electronic overload I see passing for "normal". My grandson just turned 9. EVERYTHING is electronic with him. When he got back from a Cub Scout weekend camp out I asked him what was his favorite part...playing some @#!$ video game on someone's iPad. He can't be bothered to learn to ride a bike, at least he likes Legos, but they're all the Ninjago sets and Lone Ranger. And the wife insisted on getting him an iPad Mini for Christmas. Great.

The NGC are 11 and 10 so this year I said $$$. That's it. Just $$$.

That exactly describes my 8-1/2 year old grandson. His parents solved the TV problem by dropping cable completely. Now they limit the iPad and keep him busy in sports, piano and such. Problem is both parents work at the University of Wisconsin and have iPads issued to them. So they are in the house. Now the 4 year old grandson wants to use the iPad.

That's a great commercial and, yes, I welled up.

I have a 17 year-old son who is seemingly always on his XBox, iPhone, or iPad. My opinions of these games changed when I noticed that the kids he gamed with or texts with are good kids. Now don't get me wrong...he plays these games after football practice and/or going to the church to play basketball games and (most importantly) getting his homework done.

It beats drinking and skirt-chasing that is so common among teenagers.
