It was Pekin who were the Chinks, not East H.S. They were the E-Rabs.

      Kurt is right !

Its the Pekin Chinks not East H-S. The name was chosen because
      Pekin and Peking sound alike.

The Pekin Chinks won the Illinois state basketball championship with
a victory over the "little David" Cobden Appleknockers who were the darling
of the Illinois High School Tournament in the 1964. The amazing
Appleknocker story is one of the best stories of Illinois high school basketball.
In fact a book was written called "The Amazing Appleknockers"

Don't forget Illinois' version of Milan. The Hebron Giants, even smaller than Milan beat the might Quincy Blue Devils, a great basketball tradition school in the 1952 Illinois Boys High School Basketball championship. Hebron did it two years before anyone ever heard of Milan and they were smaller than Milan with only 99 students. Why Milan gets all the glory sort of baffles me.

Hebron was before my time but i do remember the story.
It was the whole state pulling for Hebron except the town
          of Quincy.
