What in the world was that 2nd base umpire looking at? One of the worst calls I've ever seen. I think the other umps overturned it because it was so embarrassing.

Speaking of embarrassing, if Wainwright would have simply reached out he would have caught that ball...

This Red Sox fan was really glad they got it right. The umpire likely was looking at the base runner's feet and thought he had caught the ball and dropped it after he removed it from his glove to make the throw the first.

Terrible showing by the birdos tonight. But I expect Wacha to even things up tomorrow night. Wasn't our night.

Good to see another Bosox fan here.

It all started in my family with Yaz and the '67 team.

Seriously I really wanted to... But last night when I tried to watch Game one Fox's boring half hour pregame crap put me to sleep. But I take it the Cards lost?

Yes, on that play the training is to look at the feet and listen to the ball hit the glove. He heard the ball hit the glove then saw it loose and thought it was on the exchange. That is the mechanic he used on the out call. It was one of those plays where the closest umpire had the worst view. Glad they corrected the call. It is too bad Kozma did not make the catch. Red Sox were clearly ready for this game and the Cardinals were not. Hopefully a better showing tonight, or it could be 2004 all over again.

Although it was a blowout, Cardinals fans have to wonder how much different the game would have been if they could have a few of those errors back.

8-1 and the Cardinals were never in it. SS made 2 errors and Wainwright let a pop up in front of the mound drop right in front of him. Beltran robbed Papi of a Grand Slam but injured his ribs on the play and left the game.

See? If Fox had been that concise I would have seen the game. Thank you. Now I can skip SportSCenter.

It set the tone early but the Cardinals showed no signs of life. Wainwright was a bit off. Their hitting (although very, very good over the course of the year) can be frustratingly erratic. They are going to have to score a lot of runs, especially in Fenway. If they can win game 2 they are in good shape, but another huge pressure game for Michael Wacha.

Still have to score a run to win, but you can also vary your approach when it's a 1-0 or 2-0 game. No sense in bunting or stealing when you're down 7-0.

Should have been out of the first with no runs and who knows from there.

I really feel bad for Beltran, took him 16 years to get to the Series and now he might have only played 2 innings of it.
