  • Jerry Kill

I was told he will not coach today against Michigan, another seizure. This is getting pretty bad.

Gophers coach Jerry Kill is at home in Minnesota after suffering a seizure this morning. Tracy Claeys is the acting head coach.

I know it's an unfortunate situation, but at some point I would think he would resign.

It can only be a bigger and bigger problem recruiting. "Coach Kill is a good man and a fine coach, but you don't know from week to week if he will even be on the sidelines". Or something along that lines. I'm sure nobody would admit to that but I have to believe it will increase - right or wrong.

Five seizures in Three Years, Two on the sidelines. I believe that makes six now, something isn't right. I would like to know his history before this?

He had a known history prior to being hired by Minnesota. He was on IU's radar at one point as well and his health was widely discussed.

If it were more manageable it would be one thing, but it seems things are getting worse for him. And it seems like many of the episodes are on gameday.

He has epilepsy. Hopefully the seizures aren't getting worse, he's been through quite a bit already.

Until an article in the Minneapolis Star Tribune this pre-season the word epilepsy was never mentioned. Kill ended that with candor. He also switched doctors, treatment, lost a lot of weight, paid more attention to his health, etc. It all sounded positive but this has been going on since 2005 and ironically may have saved his life back then because they also discovered cancer from clinical workups which he has survived. Kill has been a coach that has taken over losing programs and turned them around in a very short time. He has progressively come up through the tier ranks and has kept a very loyal and long term coaching staff through it all. One does have to wonder if also coming up to the big time BCS and B1G also adds more stress and pressure. I don't know enough about epilepsy to know if stress and pressure goes hand in hand with more seizures.

Maybe a break might help him? I remember Urban Meyer having Heart Issues causing him to quit The University of Florida, he took a year off and now doing better at Ohio State. Then again I do not know enough of Coach Kill's situation to really make say if that would help or not.

Also Coach Kill & Coach Meyer have different personalities, although I would think Coach Kill still feels the stress.

That is the funny thing all the seizures seem to be somewhat milder in duration, at least that is what I have heard, I mean he was taken to the hospital and then get better within hours or a day or two. Most were caught either by players, trainers, or probably his wife before it becomes real bad.
My worst thought would be someday he has one in his office or something and it may be real bad.
