  • College Football Week 6

Next few weeks start to weed out which teams are for real and which aren't. Arguably the best secondary player the country, HaHa Clinton Dix has been suspended indefinitely by Tide Coach Nick Saban for violation of teams rules. Maybe more critical than Lane Kiffin's departure, USC's Marqise Lee's knee injury doesn't appear serious and hopes to return by their next game. Kudos to the Defense Department, Service Acadamies will suit up this weekend.

College Game Day: Evanston, Illinois, Northwestern University
Guest picker?? All the actors to choose from, not to mention a bunch of we love to self-promote ESPN employees like Michael Wilbon and Mike Greenberg.

Darnell Autry? Seth Myers(Needs to get back to NYC pronto), Stephen Colbert. Zach Braff, Joe Girardi, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, how about Jerry Springer?? Hugh Hefner

The old timers probably wouldn't resonate much with the kids like Warren Beatty, Ann Margret, Garry Marshall, etc.

    Blagojevich from his Cell?

Some of the high profile games:

    (25)Maryland at (8)Florida State 12:00 EST ESPN
Is 4-0(1 more win than last year) Maryland for real? West Virginia just beat Oklahoma St and lost @Oklahoma by 9. Two weeks ago Maryland beat West Virginia 37-0. Maryland will have Clemson at home later, will they partially douse the Clemson-Florida St. donnybrook down the road or Jameis Winston sends them back to Earth?

Georgia Tech at (14)Miami 3:30 EST ESPNU
With a loss, Ga. Tech probably eliminated from the ACC Coastal. Canes look to keep the momentum eyeing the Noles down the road.

    (4)Ohio State at (16)Northwestern 8:00 EST ABC
Are the Wildcats for real? Might not be the last time they play this year.

    West Virginia at (19)Baylor 8:00 EST FS1
West Virginia just knocked off Oklahoma State and now give Baylor their first taste of somewhat real FBS competition this season. Baylor has scored 69, 70, & 70 so far.

    (15)Washington at (5)Stanford 10:30 EST ESPN
Huskies same as Maryland, do they crash the Stanford/Oregon lovefest in the Pac-12 North? Follow it up with Oregon next week.

As always for IU faithful Penn State at Indiana 12:00 EST BTN

I'm surprised no one has made any comments about a potential historic event. Indiana may beat Penn State for the first time.

Hell hath frozen over! I know PSU is down a bit but this is the biggest win for IU in quite some time. They really dominated the game for the better part of 3 quarters. Outstanding defensive effort by a group that has been called out multiple times.

Makes you wonder how IU lost to Navy.

Navy is good. They should go 9-3 if Reynolds stays healthy. He is an awesome option QB.

Different Navy without Reynolds, who was injured in the first quarter against the Hilltoppers. Navy's offense was helpless after that. Reynolds returned today and Navy routed their rival Air Force.

It could be a really good day for Indiana schools contingent on the ND/AZ State game. Ball State went to Virginia and sound beat the Cavs.

Congratulations to IU (and all the IU faithful here). A very solid win for them over my Lions. The improvement of their defense was remarkable. After watching Mizzou have it's way with them and the solid three back ground attack Penn St had, I figured we would dominate them in that aspect. My only real concern was could we get enough stops to keep IU from a shootout win. A good solid win and it should quiet the grumbling over Wilson for a while.

I will say that their fans need to find something other than the gator chomp to do. That looked very odd.

IU fans were doing the Gator Chomp?

Their signature move is to pump alternating fists in the air in front of your body with bent elbows (that's as descriptive as I can get) while the band plays. It used to be the first down thing (?) but with Wilson's hurry up offense it is now the touchdown thing (?).

I saw some of what you're describing too, but it sure looked like some of them thought they were at a U of Florida game. Anyone else see it, or am I just imagining it?

In any case, congrats again to IU.

                            .
Yep. For some reason, they've been encouraging that all year via the big screen in the end zone. The 'Jaws" music is played, and an IU player is shown on the big sceen doing the Gator Chomp clearly encouraging fans to join in. Bizzare. Maybe Purdue can do FSU's Tomahawk Chop next year!

Perfect day for the Indiana FBS schools. Purdue was idle, but IU, ND, and BSU were all underdogs, and all won.

How about that backdoor cover of the 6.5pt line for Ohio State?!!

Just finished the Washington v Stanford game. UW got hosed by the replay ref. How do you change a called catch on the field, to an incomplete pass, when the video evidence was inconclusive at best?
