Thanks again for the kind words about Lily. She is a beautiful young girl, and although her mother is gorgeous, Lily's looks are all from my side of the family. Looking at pictures of her side-by-side with my sister at the same age, the resemblance is striking. Funny how genetics work. (My son, on the other hand, looks just like my father-in-law, and is quite the handsome fella.)
Things are pretty much back to normal around here. I hope they stay that way. In May, my wife had a scare that she was having a heart attack. Turns out it was a false alarm, but scary nonetheless. Not long after that, Lily fell and got a bad bloody nose, so we took her to the ER just to be safe. Following that, I ruptured a tendon in my ring finger (not good for a bass player, I might add). Then came Lily's crash. So, normal is good.
And, ever the jokester, my nine-year-old son made a little sign the other day, like one would see in a factory or shop - it said "Carter Family - 32 days without a trip to the emergency room."
