Inevitable from some things I'd read about it last year, but... damn."I didn't hear a single comment about airboxes, "carbashians", or how terrible the car looked. I did see dozens and dozens of little kids in awe of the speed and how cool the cars looked. We should learn from our children."

Sad sign of the times and how things and places change. I'm not even local. But it's never easy to see something go away that you thought would just always be there. To a New Yorker like yourself, a hero is some type of weird sandwich. Not some nut who takes on three Tigers!

What a shame.
Both of my parents are from Anderson. I was able to attend a Anderson game @ the Wigwam probably 15 years ago with my grandfather. A truly cool experience.
Any Anderson natives on here? My other grandfather, owned and operated "The Big Top" for several years until his death in the early 90's. Bob Knight and Carl Erskine at there."Any time that I can be out at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, you're going to see a smile on my face." - Dan Wheldon
"It's crazy how the Indianapolis Motor Speedway can make you so emotional. I went from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows in less than 24 hours." - Alex Tagliani

I went to the last Anderson home game there on Feb. 24. I had plans to go to another game that night, but I decided to go to the Wigwam when I found out about it being the last game this season and the potential for the gym to be closed after this year. I had never been there before, so I'm very glad I went.
Since the IHSAA couldn't find a suitable and available Indianapolis location for the girls state basketball finals the last two years, I wish they could have held it at the Wigwam. It certainly would have been more centrally located than Fort Wayne (how'd you like to be those Vincennes Rivet fans who travelled to FW two consecutive years?). Obviously it doesn't have the amenities of a professional arena, but it does seat 9,000 people. It would have been nice to see a historic gym like that filled up with basketball fans again, and it would have helped a city and a facility which desperately could use some help."If there is a place on Earth synonymous with race cars, it is Indianapolis." -- Bernie Ecclestone
"No matter where you go in the world, you say Indianapolis and they don't think about football or basketball, they think about the race." -- Richard Petty
