  • Favorite Place to Go Play...

The United States of America has literally THOUSANDS of cities, towns, and burgs that are destinations in themselves...What's your favorites, and what's the attractions, food, parks, etc. that make them cool? This oughta' make a GREAT thread because TF literally has people from everywhere chimin' in every day.:I500

P.S. Please, if you haven't done so already...Slide over to the WORLD FAMOUS MEDIA BOY Forum, and check out the 1st. Annual Media Boy Calender. I think we need to work on next year...Proceeds should go to something to do with mental health issues. This could be big, kids...
My major malfunction is...I want the people I love and respect to live forever...The problem is...Life don't work that way...

P.S. Questions, comments, death threats, invitations to a pigs bris, my number is still (317) 809-4483

      The sky.

If I have to explain the attraction, you'd never understand.

I have always loved San Francisco. The first time I was there was when "Flower Power," first showed up in the Bay area. A multitide of great restaurants, catering to all sort of tastes. I especially like sea food, so, San Francisco is heaven in that respect. The fun of getting around town on the CableCar, the great aroma of the brakes, they use hickory wood. Taking a bus tour to see Muir Woods, and seeing those Redwoods.

I was single, still am, when I visited. Went to North Beach. Went into a topless joint called "Big Al's" They had a live band for the dancers, they were dressed in 1930s clothing, with big brimmed hats. Every once in a while the band leader would say, "We have to put on a good show tonight, Big Al is here." This is reference to Al Capone.

New Orleans. World class food, music, and architecture. Has its completely own vibe which is unlike any other city in the US. Would live there in a heartbeat if it wasn't below sea level with no proper hurricane protection.

Felix's Oyster Bar. Tipitina's. Commander's Palace. Royal Street. Cafe Du Monde. Jazz Funerals. Carnival. Vodoo.

Definitely on my list of places to visit, likely in the next year. I can't wait.
As for me, I've done a lot of international travel recently, actually - Costa Rica has been my favorite; it's beautiful and serene.
I am a native Floridian and as such, HATE the cold. Put me anywhere where there's palm trees and scorching heat, and I'll be happy. But I love to travel and at least experience other places, and have been lucky to do so. Alaska in the summer was my favorite. Absolutely blew me away. Left me speechless.
RIP Dan Wheldon - never forgotten!

I love to travel! I've been to 26 states and I hope to see all 50 before I die. My wife has family in Wales, so we have a trip to make overseas someday.

Monterey Bay in California - Cannery Row is neat. The Aquarium is really interesting to see too. I have only been up there once (on my honeymoon) and fell in love with it. I can't wait to go again. I was up there only about three days and its among my favorite vacation destinations.

                If you're into history:
Dallas, TX - Texas Book Depository. The last time I was in there there was a JFK museum. It was an eerie place to visit for me.
San Antonio, TX - The Alamo.

                Sight-seeing or road trippin'
Key West, FL - Southernmost point in the United States. Take a ride in a glass bottom boat. Its neat to see the sea life.
Everglades - Take a ride on an airboat.
Sedona, AZ - The red rocks are gorgeous up that way. There are shops along the streets as well. I enjoyed traveling westward and going through Jerome and Prescott Valley, as well.
Tortilla Flat, AZ - Located near the Superstition Mountains, six people reside in this town. The restaurant is worth checking out. There are a bunch of $1 bills on the wall that people have left over the years.

I've been to 45 states, and generally go to a new spot each year. I do go across Nebraska on I-80 a lot...but I wouldn't call that one of my favorite spots...

If I had to pick, it would be the Yellowstone/Grand Teton region. There's mountain scenery(Tetons, Beartooth Hwy) lakes, wildlife, the ever-present geothermal features, Yellowstone Canyon/falls, Cody and the Buffalo Bill museum, Jackson, Earthquake Lake. And Salt Lake, now with In N Out locations, is a few hours away.

My kid got pulled over in Oregon going 65 because the speed limit is 50 mph on the I-5 where there are orange cones are out regardless of whether workers are present or not.
He was driving thru from California to Washington. It was the only time he ever drove through the state.
The state trooper could care less.
