The blizzard of '78! I has been 33 years. (nice number)
Wow, I remember that like it was yesterday. I remember two days after the blizzard ended a city snow-plow came down our street in an attempt to plow it. There was a huge snow-drift towards the end of the street, at least 4-5 feet, and the truck took a running start at it. He hit that drift and it stopped him dead in his tracks, the rear-end of the truck almost came off the ground when he hit it. The street was in-passable for a good week or so.
I made a fortune shoveling driveways and side-walks (back when people actually still shoveled their sidewalks) for people in my neighborhood and adjoining neighborhoods. I was a healthy, cocky 8th-grader at the time. Not much has changed, I'm still healthy & cocky 33 years later!
a bad day at the race track beats a good day at work
I remember being in a dorm in college sharing a bathroom with 50 other people, having no water for four days (certain indoor facilities inoperable, pretty much) but lots of liquid refreshment flowing. Having the National Guard brought into town and mandatory curfews made the experience complete!
