I was just sayin'... that if you know somebody in the habit of stopping along the Interstate to get out of her car to take photos of accidents that you shouldn't be all that surprised when she doesn't come home some night.

Not nice... maybe even harsh but even more it's honest.

You make the assumption that there was a clear way thru the accident. Maybe all traffic was stopped.

If you have to start out your statement by apologizing for it, perhaps re-thinking whether it is necessary or appropriate is in order. Just because one can say something doesn't mean one has to.

Obviously it's tragic a woman was killed. However in Frank's defense, she stops her car at an accident site which already will be congested due to the accident, emergency vehicles & personnel as well as the rubber-necking passing motorists?! And to add insult to injury, she's doing so just to take pictures?!

It's awfully hard to get killed by a fast-moving vehicle in stopped traffic.

i'm pretty amazed that the driver of the "camera" car was able to safely make such and abrupt move.. slushy/ice road surface and lucky that no one was in the lane to his right...

I'm always amazed by how quick the human brain can react in moments like that. I've had similar sudden lane changes, or short stops,(nothing nearly as extreme) required to miss debris or another vehicle. Once the situation is under control I reflect on how quick I was able it assess my suroundings, what is behind me, what is next to me, how long it will take me to stop, ect. in the precious fractions of a second before I must react with my hands and feet. Like catching your balance when you slip on ice. If you think about it, its already too late.

Traffic unexpectedly stops in front of you, and you get caught breifly looking to the side, or the rear view, or the radio, or your cell phone...you look up and everything is stopped ahead of you, and you're still at speed. What the first thing you do? I look in my rearview to see if the guy behind me is paying attention, slowing, or tailgating me. I judge my braking on how much space I have left myself to the car in front, and then on how much space and time the guy behind me has. I start to brake, and at the moment I am convinved I will stop with ample time I'm back looking in the mirror to check that that guy behind has done the same. All this happens in an instant, the blink of an eye. I have protected myself, and those in front of and behind me.

This happens to me rarely, and each time I'm reminded to look well ahead, up the highway a half, or full mile, to watch for trouble, to stay aware of the traffic around me, and to avoid distractions.

A little superpower that we all have, but forget about until a truck is headed straight for us.
