  • "The Tom Brady and Peyton Manning Era is Over"

Some of the guys arguments are valid. But Manning's offense was plagued with injuries....Dallas Clark, Austin Collie, Joseph Addai.

One thing that is a common denominator for both Manning and Brady is that their respective team defenses are average at best.

Good, I am tired of hearing about this Manning vs. Brady crap.

John Elway never could get over the hump until they built the running game and defense around him. He was not exactly a caretaker, but he was not the young lion of the early years when he dragged his team to victory.

Trent Dilfer, need we say more about SB QBs.

guess it's kinda hard to win in the postseason without that video camera after all

I'm sure Manning would greatly appreciate not being relied on to carry the team by himself.

Not that he did that (despite the perception). However, he did have to do more this season than his normal share -- perhaps more than he has ever had to do -- and more than any QB should be expected to do on his own.

I'll bet both quarterbacks would be glad to shed this un-needed pressure week-in & week-out despite there being virtually no validity to the claim. I also bet this will make both that more determined to prove their detractors wrong and that both still have at least one Super Bowl in them. I've yet to see Sanchez, Roethlisberger, Cutler or Rodgers or anyone else even come close to being in the same caliber of Brady or Manning. But hey it will get hits on the column.

If you're a fan of passer rating, Rodgers is #1 all-time with three full seasons (with mixed team results) under his belt. It will be interesting to see how long he can stay up there.

If you're a fan of playoff W/L, Roethlisberger's teams are 9-2 with him as a starter, and Sanchez's teams are 4-1.

Obviously, passer rating and playoff W/L don't tell the whole story of a great QB, but those seem to be the top two ways people like to judge a QB. If they stay on consistently good teams, those guys could all end up being "great" QBs in the eyes of history.

Personally, I prefer using additional ways to judge a great QB that perhaps aren't as quantifiable.

It was the experts who all tried to convince us that the Jets didn't have a chance this past weekend...

If results matter then its the Expert Talking Heads era that should be over.

                        What?

You mean then the "best player" might be determined to be somebody other than the QB on the best team? Say it isn't so!

simmer down TD... at this point it's just a theory.
