Living in Tokyo, Japan, during the late '90s, Geoffrey Barnett found it extremely difficult -- even dangerous -- to ride his bicycle to work every day.

The possibility of ever having flying cars in my lifetime ended on 9/11/2001, I figure. Hijacking an airplane isn't so easy, but flying a McVeigh-type Ryder truck into a building wouldn't be hard at all.

This might be the closest we get. Sounds pretty cool, to me. I HATE stoplights.

No problem, she'll just end up going a lot faster than she ever dream she could have on her own.

Looking at it, it seems to be fine for getting around, for a few people. But, what happens when thousands upon thousands are on the same route?

I don't think this particular design is going anywhere, but I really like the idea that private and public corporations are investing in ideas to improve public transportation. Ideas tend to breed more and better ideas.
