They should offer Coach Patterson of TCU a truckload of money and see if he'd want the job. Although maybe they did the first search. I have heard him turn down other jobs saying he is staying at TCU.

Off topic, but I how solid is the hire of Coach Wilson looking for the Hoosiers, going just by the staff he's putting together? Getting Coach Pease, the co-offensive coordinator from Boise State has to be strong. Pease is said to be a good recruiter. Coach Ekelar, the linebacker coach from Nebraska, who gets good reviews from former players as demanding and a quality coach, and who is considered a good recruiter. Guys with IU ties, in Coach Mallory and Coach Hagen (former IU star linebacker coming from the Purdue staff), both considered good recruiters. Coach Corey Raymond for cornerbacks, of which he has sent several to the NFL in previous jobs, played corner himself in the NFL for seven years, and is a good recruiter. Good recruiter is a big theme here, along with being known for teaching ability, toughness, and hard nosed attitudes. Looking good!

Mike Haywood has claims that "the arrest was not fair and the truth will eventually come out." Domestic violence disputes can be ugly and unfair sometimes. However given that he pushed her after grabbing her by the arm and neck, and that the charge has been upgraded from a misdemeanor to felony and he's likely to face jail time due to it being a felony if convicted, it's very hard to give him any benefit of the doubt. If Harbaugh turns down Michigan just wait to see how much $$$ they are willing to throw at Patterson. Then you'll see how loyal he is to TCU.

A lot of talk that Harbaugh will be coaching in the NFL - supposedly both the 49ers and Broncos will be giving him quite a bit of consideration. Profootballtalk has mentioned Marvin Lewis on Pitt's new shortlist for a head coach as I do not think anyone expects him back with the Bengals.

Also, with TCU joining the Big East next year, I would be rather surprised to see Patterson leave. He will have a much easier road to BCS games and recruiting in what is already a solid program.

I think we could use a few more facts.
            Who is she?
            Who's home was it?
            Was she coming or going?
Many states have a law that when there is a domestic violence call someone MUST be taken in.
While she had marks, I would still want to know more before passing judgment let alone firing the guy.

Pitt could not afford to wait for the law to play out to know if he is truly guilty or innocent though. They need a head coach -now- that they can work to build around and then said head coach has to be able to start recruiting. And there is no way that Haywood would not have been killed in the recruiting process - probably regardless of the outcome.

I too thought there were very little facts presented although I can see why Pitt wasted no time in dismissing him.

Why would anybody want to get on the NFL ferris wheel? Come back home to Michigan where they will pay you as much as an NFL coach and you'll never have to buy a meal again. Win and you'll have more job security than anybody in the NFL could imagine.

As to the Broncos, I heard something about them naming Elway President of football operations with his first job being to sign Harbaugh. I wonder what the Stanford folks think about that...

I recommend an additional interview question, "Did you beat your wife last night???"

                      Comments:

1 - In these cases the police often automatically believe the female. I will wait until her crediability and the police's apparent decesion to arrest someone on a holiday weekend based on her story alone w/o any investigation is tested in a court of law.

2 - This guy "fathered" (father is a title I proudly hold and he does not deserve it, maybe "sired" or "sperm donated" is more appropriate) a child with a woman half his age when he was FOURTY FOUR YEARS OLD. Then he goes to Pitt and talks about being a "role model" and kids wearing suits on airplanes. Lets see, wearing a suit on an airplane versus irresponsible reproduction.

3 - Taking a shot at Wandstedt on the "role model" and "out of contol program" angle. And hiring a guy who cannot keep it zipped in his forties. DW is a honest and honorable man. Pitt's AD should resign today.
