In the mid-90's, I moved back to the Mainland from Maui, and my buddy from childhood, and his wife were living in Las Vegas, Nv. I stopped by for what I thought was gonna' be a week(NO MORE), vacation in Lost Wages...I read the Las Vegas R-J one morning and found an ad for CAB DRIVERS...On a whim, I checked it out, and got a job...I was on third shift, and started having breakfast @ 3:00 A.M. at Debbie Reynold's Casino...Great LOCALS ONLY prices, and great staff... Not much business, but that's another story...I met Ms. Reynolds one morning, and she was terrific...HOW THE WEST WAS WON, was one of my favorite movies, and I told her so...I ended up having breakfast with her a slew of times, and she wouldn't even let mE buy...GREAT LADY...I wish her many more years of happiness...Her stories about people she has known are incredible...And she knew EVERYBODY...
My major malfunction is...I want the people I love and respect to live forever...The problem is...Life don't work that way...

P.S. Questions, comments, death threats, invitations to a pigs bris, my number is still (317) 809-4483

Most of my brushes with celebdom come from my time in the Skip Barber series. Among the famous trying on road racing for size were Walter Payton, Vince Neil of Motley Crue, Frank Beard of ZZTop, Brian Johnson of AC/DC, Grant Show (Jake on Melrose Place), and drag racing star Whit Bazemore. Olivia Newton-John came to RA to watch her nephew, Emerson. Stunningly beautiful in her 50s. All were very personable in that environment. The best story I guess is of Neil. He was the slowest car on the track--by far--in the Sat. race at IRP. That night he and Skippy instructor and noted imbiber Dorsey Schroeder hit the town. The next day they both showed up looking like they just got back without any sleep. Vince was immediately barred from Sunday's race and Dorsey spent most of the day barfing his guts out on the corner he was supposed to be observing.

Not necessarily a household famous name, but, I met Gen. Lucius Dubignon Clay Jr. when my youngest sister married his son Colin. Really wish I could have also met his father.
