So they're going to call it the Big East/Lil Southwest?

Look for Central Florida to migrate from CUSA to the Big East to give the conference its 10th team that it desires.

They are reportedly issuing an invitation to Villanova (who wants to move up their program to D-1).

The BEP - Big East of the Pacific, or if they want to limit themselves geographically, the BER - Big East of the Rockies.

How about we quote Voltaire relative to the Holy Roman Empire? Which, he corectly state was neither holy, nor Roman, nor an empire. This conference is neither big nor in the east.

What we have is not a reaction to the recent moves in college football, but this woeful conference's continuing reaction to the last set from a decade ago, when Virginia Tech, Boston C, and Miami were SELECTED to move UP to the ACC from at least five applicants, according to sworn court records.

Now, as to TCU and it fans, do you really see anybody not already a fan of TCU really getting worked up over playing Rutgers? Do you really see the manager of any ABC station in the state of Texas spending 4 seconds deciding which regionalized game to carry, the "Big" "East" or the Big 12? Do you really see anybody in Texas watching the 12 noon (11 am in Texas) syndicated "Big" "East" game if TCU is not playing in it? Do you really see a lot of water cooler banter in some office building in Texas between Texasfan, Okiefan, and such, being in awe of what Frogfan says about how they took out South Florida.

But the real deal here is recruiting. Every coach in Conference USA West has a big smile on his face today. They have one less competitor. The "Big" "East" in recruiting has two main areas. The Big 10 (mostly Sweater Vest's and JoPa) 's culls in western PA and NE Ohio, and the SEC and ACC's culls in Florida. Now TCU recruits Texas/Oklahoma. So some kid has an offer of playing at TCU. 2500 mile round trips into the cold to play before 15K drunk yankees in Piscataway, New Jersey or Stores, Conn. Against kids he does not know and were not his HS rivals. He is going to take that? Over Houston? Over New Mexico? Over ANY ANY ANY Big 12 slot? Even Iowa State or Kansas?

TCU becomes the second (after WVU) team in that joke league that does not G I V E tickets away. Lets see where they are in 10 years.

Heck if their Governor and half their citizens get their way it won't even be part of the United States in another decade.

Geography has little to do with college conference membership these days -- it's all about the money. No reveleation there.

Which is why I predict tthis coming sign of the apocalypse:

                            Conference naming rights.

Yep, I predict it's just a matter of time before your favorite team is a member of the Verizon Conference....or the sixteen-team Big Ten Presented by Mobil....or even perhaps the "Big Budweiser." Or, how about the Coca-Cola Conference, featuring the Diet Coke Division and the Sprite Division?

                            Mark my words....
