So if the Hoosiers beat Evansville by 13 and Evansville beats Butler by 3, does that mean Indiana is 16 points better than Butler?

I'm impressed by "the Butler way" I've been hearing so much about on this forum lately. It is fine sportsmanship for Butler to support all of Indiana basketball by allowing a rebuilding Evansville program to get some glory.

I give Evansville all the credit they deserve. They out played and out coached Butler. They deserved to win the game. Thing is Butler was up 12 with about 2 minutes left in the first half, but let them get back into it. Definitely a confusing start for Butler this year and some worry about the season has set in. The dynamic of Butler is still a big question mark and the way Stevens was using several different rotations throughout the game, I tend to think the coaches don't have a handle on the team as of yet either. Except for the Louisville game, Mack has been almost nonexistent, and no one has picked up the slack.

I figured a minor step back, but not this much.

But if you want to use Evansville as a benchmark for Butler and IU's success for rest of the season, then so be it, even though it is rather shortsighted (which I don't expect anything different from a IU fan). IU has yet to leave the comfort of Assembly Hall and play a meaningful game, so lets see what they do when they play a decent team on the road or at least on a neutral site.

IU's schedule is such a freaking joke! They play one good team in their non-conference schedule!!

But anywho, when IU makes in the NCAA tourney 4 years in a row and gets to the sweet 16 and national championship game 2 out of those 4 years, then I'll be impressed.

Glad you're taking it well... I had to needle after some of the stuff on here lately.

I'm sure Butler will get in synch. I have only seen the Louisville game, and they made a few runs even in that one. I am sort of happy for Evansville right now though, since I like Marty Simmons and would like them to do well.

Yeah, I went to IU, for freshman year. Transferred to Michigan Tech when I switched to engineering. Grew up both a Hoosier and Purdue fan, although I'm told that's not possible. I did root for IU when they played head to head.

How is IU's schedule a joke? They beat Evansville, who beat Butler. Next is Boston College, an ok pre-season game. Also Kentucky.

It's only fair for Butler to play a few decent out of conference games, since their conference schedule is a bunch of cupcakes compared to Indiana's Big Ten schedule. Horizon League ... I can see being worried about Detroit and Milwaukee though, they get those big city recruits.

Actually you are an alum. You don't have to graduate from a school to be an alum.

This was a typical cry of the PU fans who couldn't stand it because nobody cheered for PU unless they went there.

It is just a pet peeve of mine. Out here in KC, everybody and their brother is a KU fan, and usually the people who never stepped foot on the campus are the biggest windbags when it comes to rooting for "their" team. When they refer to their team as "we", it just totally bugs the hell out of me because they have absolutely no affiliation to the school.

By the way...I went to CG's game tonight and your boy Smeathers looked like crap. My daughter has told me that he has an ego issue and it was on display tonight. I hope Stevens can knock that out of him. He's really a great player when he plays the game and isn't caught up in his own press. FC fans were chanting "over-rated" at him tonight and they were right.

Truthfully, I don't get into the recruiting minutia, especially being totally removed from the Indiana HS basketball scene. But, I know he has been compared to Gordon Hayward, at least physique wise and his upside is suppose to be great.

But as you know, he is still a kid and it would be tough not get caught up in that kind of stuff.

I'm sure Brad Stevens has a lot more to be worried about than him right now though.
