  • Question for NFL fans, primarily those in the Indianapolis TV market

    See poll.

I included choices for non-Indy residents just for reference. But I'm specifically wondering about Indy residents and Colts fans.
    24
I'm in the Indianapolis market, and I would rather see Green Bay at Minnesota
    20.83%
    5
I'm in the Indianapolis market, and I would rather see Washington at Tennessee
    29.17%
    7
I'm outside the Indianapolis market, and I would rather see Green Bay at Minnesota
    41.67%
    10
I'm outside the Indianapolis market, and I would rather see Washington at Tennessee
    8.33%
    2

    The poll is expired.

I'm spoiled by the success of the Colts. The division just seems like a given to me, and if not, at least getting in the playoffs as a wildcard always is. As such, I'd rather see the better game, which would be Green Bay and the Vikings.

That would change if we were down to the last couple of weeks and the playoff race were down to the wire, of course.

But it doesn't bother me a bit that CBS always shows the AFC South teams when the Colts aren't playing. It makes sense. What irks me is when they or FOX show the Bears over the premier national game, or over an AFC South team.

There's still a significant part of the viewing area, especially north and west of Indy, devoted to the Bears either primarily or just secondarily to the Colts. I have no problem with FOX sending every available Bears game to Indy.

I don't like that Indy is getting GB/MIN this week. If it were a blockbuster matchup of premiere teams, sure. But it's not. What really drove me to ask this question is the fact that Washington/Tennessee was actually the original assignment for Indy that was released a couple weeks ago! I thought that FOX had come to its senses, but apparently not. And what did they base the switch on? Are Washington and Tennessee suddenly terrible teams because they both lost last week? Okay, maybe the Redskins are terrible, but can you really base that on a single week? And are the Vikings suddenly a good team? If it's all about Favre, that wouldn't explain why the other game was originally assigned to Indy because he's been playing all year.

BTW, CBS hasn't always sent the AFC South games into Indy -- that trend didn't start until a year or two ago. But it makes sense more often than not.

Unless the alternative is an extremely interesting game (GB-Minn isn't) then I'll always go with the division rival game.

I totally understand why you guys would want the division rival games of the Colts. As a Bears fan(living in the SB market), I want as many NFC North games as possible. PERIOD

I prefer watching games in which the teams are not in the same division or better yet, conference.

I agree 100%. I like interconference games because they're unusual -- those teams play each other just once every four years.

Some people are into the divisional matchups. Some of them are okay, but I'm tired of watching the same old teams play each other all the time -- especially the NFC East and NFC North.

Yeah, me too. But some of these decisions by FOX are just whacky.

                            3rd Quarter
                            GB 24 MIN 3
                            WAS 10 TEN 10

Sure, FOX couldn't have known exactly how the games would go. But they deserve to suffer by making a bad decision to send GB/MIN into Indy over WAS/TEN.
