  • Winter Reading Suggestions

I picked up a copy of Jackie Stewart's autobiography, "Winning in Not Enough." So far (just a few pages in), I like the tone and flow. I think I'm going to enjoy it.

Any other suggestions for motorsports-related books I should check out? I can do fiction or non-fiction, but I'm leaning more toward stories, so more biography than history, though I'm flexible. Thoughts?

I highly recommend "INDY: Racing Before the 500" http://www.indianareflections.com/

Its a collection of stories as compiled from historical records, articles and stories told from all the races and activities at IMS from conceptulization until the first 500. Its foreward is written by Donald Davidson so you know its good stuff. I found it great to read firsthand accounts of the balloon races and the Wright Brother breaking records at IMS, things I'm sure most modern people don't quite know about. In addition it has official results and play-by-play of just about every race that was done at the track.

This is the Clint Brawner story; the man who wrenched Sweikert, Bryan, Foyt, Mario and many others. Fantastic book.
