Need Michigan Casino/Hotel Advice

Long story short, I am driving from Indy to Mackinac Island next week and I am looking for a place to stay overnight to break up the drive. Two places seem reasonable, Battle Creek or Mt Pleasant. I like to gamble so I was thinking about Soaring Eagle or Firekeepers. Both are right on the way, but the reviews are mixed. I need a nice hotel (for my pregnant wife) and a casino. If it is really smoky she probably wont go to the casino, and reviews on both seem to indicate that is an issue. Any suggestions?

PS..I love Four Winds but it is not on the way.
