  • My new book is now available

Happy to announce that my new book, Hotel Hell, is now available both in paperback and as a download. It's my tribute to the 80's Slasher Film.

    How do you like Lulu?

Overall, it has been a pretty good experience. This is my 2nd book thru them.

Couldn't help but notice the downloads are MUCH less than the print versions. This is very different from Createspace, which charges you nearly as much for the download but pays the writer a much bigger royalty (I'm assuming).

You can set your own prices. The only problem with Lulu's pricing (and it may be the same with Createspace, I've never used them) is that you have to have the same price to sell via Lulu as you would via Amazon.com. Since Amazon eats up most of the profit, you end up having to raise the price of the book to make any sort of money. With Hotel Hell, I'll make a few dollars via Lulu and a big .69 per copy from Amazon.

My first book sold ~200 copies, about 1/3 being physical books and the rest downloads, mostly through Amazon's Kindle. While selling an actual book is cool, I'm just happy people are reading what I wrote.

For self-publishing, about 200 copies is kicking ass. I'm going to have to check these out!

Gee, if I could get anybody to edit mine, I might be able to get something posted...

I'd try, but I have barely enough time to edit my own crap...

(But I will get back to reading it. Storms seem to have passed for now...)

I sold 5 copies of Hotel Hell the first week it was available. Not a bad start. My goal is to hit 200!
