Tough night for the Hoosier state in Big Ten ball. Purdue couldn't make a shot or a FT down the stretch and couldn't stop one of the worst offensive teams in the Big 10 from scoring in OT, and IU couldn't make a FT or stop a team from scoring with 1 second left (whose team was playing without one of their leading scorers). Not good.
Who would draft Eric Gordon in the 1st round, let alone the lottery? Kid looks lost and has regressed a 1000 percent since the early season games. Of course, the early season schedule might have helped mask some of Eric's weaknesses. He has to be close to leading the nation in turnovers.
His wrist has to be hurt more than people are letting on.
Anyway, I think if Minnesota wins 1 more game, they'll make the tournament and send Ohio State to the NIT. And, Tubby Smith should win Big 10 coach of the year, if that happens.

Watch the replay & explain to me WTF DJ was doing.
My guess is that DJ hasn't played defensive back before.
He misplayed the ball in the air (and might have also gotten a little nudge from a Minnesota guy) and that dufus Ellis just stood there, with his thumb up his behind.
The Minnesota kid just wanted the ball more. They played their tails off, short-handed, from start-to-finish. They probably deserved to win that game, just on their consistant effort.

Yes. And, probably deservedly so. I thought he might have played some guys too long tonight (where was Martin in the 2nd half? Sure, he didn't light it up early in the game, but I would have more faith in him hitting a 3 down the stretch, then that Calesan guy, who seemed to think he was Larry Bird) and they seemed to wear down, but you can't fault him for too much this year.
But, Minnesota's program was as lame as you can get at this time last year. Dead last, behind Northwestern, and fired their coach mid-season (which hardly ever happens in college ball).
For them to have a winning record, let alone a shot at a NCAA bid, with that roster, is a real testament to Tubby Smith.

Since Painter exposed EG's out of control style he shot 0.344 with a 0.581 Assists:TO ratio in his last seven games. He still made a lot of FTs, but unless you back it up with FGs, teams will layoff to avoid the contact and let him make 1 of 3.
I don't watch enough NBA (any now that that Pendleton has less criminals than the Pacers), but I don't see that shtick working at the next level...

What irks me (maybe its too soon for the truth), DW was a 16-oval WIN specialist, yet the vast majority those boohooing for him, hardcarders & fans, alike are the same ones trying to kill anything with more than 9 deg banking & 4 corners, where Dan ultimately made his home...
Four of the Indiana schools lost in their conference tourney. Only Buitler survived. That is schools with at least a chance to make the Dance.
I watched a lot of basketball the last few days and the Big 11 has the worst officiating with the PAC-10 a close second. But nothing will ever be done about it.
So Gordon's injury should not enter into the fact that he's shooting poorly? A lot of kids wouldn't be playing with his injury. He'll do just fine at the next level. (much better than Alford or Bailey)

Gordon is the most over-rated player I have see in college basketball history.
He is unclutch, and not a "winner".
Any NBA team that takes him will be wasting a pick.
He can't dribble. He can't shoot. He gets to the line because of poor Big 10 officiating on his out of control drives.
I'm tired of waiting to see his "full potential". I have, and he sucks.
