Not only that, but she was elected before the minimum 25 year time frame from when her first album came out (granted, barely).
The RRHOF is a joke - bands/artists in there that have no business being in there, bands that likely will never get in (Rush/Moody Blues/Kiss) that should be in.
It would be more properly titled "The Popular* Music Hall of Fame" *Popular being popular in the eyes of the owners of the RRHOF.
There's a great video on YouTube of Johnny Rotten on Jimmy Kimmel's show talking about the Sex Pistol's RRHOF 'induction'.

Agreed. From what I've heard, the board for the RRHOF is dominated by ex RollingStone editor/writer types (or maybe current ones). So, bands that RS didn't like aren't too likely to get in. Yes was one of the most popular bands in the world over a couple of different periods, but they are not about to put a 70's Prog. band in. No matter how many albums they sold or how many times they were the number one touring group.

The whole thing is a joke. Lost any relevance years ago. Yeah, the 'Pop' music HoF would be much more appropriate. This is just the start of it's long slide. Having lived through the 80's, there weren't many new artist that emerged that merit such acclaim today IMO. Before anyone shoots back with a 'what about this artist...' list, I said there weren't many. Not that there weren't any at all.
To a New Yorker like yourself, a hero is some type of weird sandwich. Not some nut who takes on three Tigers!
Yeah, that's the other stupid thing about it. The building is in Cleveland but the induction is in NYC
Next year's is going to be in Cleveland. The induction will be held at one of the arenas (I'm thinking Quicken Loans Arena - the big one, they'll want all the seats they can sell as they're setting it up as a concert instead of a gala event).
Some fans claim one series or another runs "real race cars." What's everybody else running, fake race cars?

This is the first year that Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble and Metallica are eligible. And acts like KISS, Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne (as a solo artist as opposed to with Sabbath), Iron Maiden and Deep Purple have been eligible for years.
And who gets in this year instead?? Instead of STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN?!?!? Instead of the band that has basically shaped all heavy metal and hard rock that came after it (Metallica)? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!
