  • Just finished doing my taxes.

$451.19 refund, or everything I paid. After my first paycheque I told payroll to stop holding back the income tax because I figured I wouldn't owe anything. When I did it, I had $18,000 of deductions on $15,000 of income.

    Good call.

As usual for me, every dime of refund from the feds was a dime owed to the great state of Kansas--and then some...

BUT my employer, ever vigilant towards the needs of its associates, pointed out to us all that in Kansas if both spouses work, they are supposed to have taxes withheld as if they are single, not married. So my wife and I corrected our withholding to reflect this, and next year we shouldn't have this issue. We hope.

We're not sure we believe you.
Certainly, you would not object to a cavity search.

I try ever year to owe the Government a $100 or $200. I pay them on 4-15. I try to keep my money in my hands not let the Government hold it for me with no benefit.

The Feds let Kansas tax interstate freeways as if they were state highways, maybe that makes up for it.
