  • Did Minnesota just sneak in the dance tonight

OSU definitely is out, though they'll probably stick it to the Boilers now.

They can probably finish 9-9 in the Big Ten and a win in the Big Ten Tourney over puts them at a tourney ready 20-12.
    Natural Born Cynic

What irks me (maybe its too soon for the truth), DW was a 16-oval WIN specialist, yet the vast majority those boohooing for him, hardcarders & fans, alike are the same ones trying to kill anything with more than 9 deg banking & 4 corners, where Dan ultimately made his home...

Minnesota has had a very good resurgence this season and they have a bright future to look forward to. But I just don't see where they're going to make the NCAA tournament. They don't have any "quality" wins. The best win, by far, is the home win against Ohio State. But the Buckeyes seem to be in the middle of "Operation Shutdown" at this point in the season, losing 5 of their last 6 games.

However, if Minnesota wins at Indiana on Senior Day and/or advances to the championship game of the Big 10 tourney, they might have a chance.

    Non-Conference wins:
    Army W 84-52
    at Iowa St. W 68-58
    Cent. Michigan W 77-59
    UC Riverside W 75-38
    North Dakota St. W 88-56
    Colorado St. W 91-74
    South Dakota St. W 78-72
    Santa Clara W 68-50
    Nicholls St. W 77-32
    Kennesaw St. W 83-66

    Big 10 wins against:
    Northwestern W 82-63
    at Penn St. W 76-73
    at Michigan W 77-65
    at Northwestern W 92-72
    Iowa W 63-50
    Michigan W 69-60
    Penn St. W 75-68
    Ohio St. W 71-57

Nothing really blows you away on these wins in the Big 10. The Gophers just beat up on the 5th place or lower conference teams. Zero wins against the Big Ten's four NCAA tournament locks.

With a RPI in the high 80's/low 90's, Minnesota has a very long way to go to secure an at-large. They are definitely not close to being in yet.

I just want to see Tubby Smith do well, after the way he was treated by UK (especially, by those fans).

If they don't make the NCAAs, surely they'll make the NIT. I doubt if UK will make the NCAAs...unless they pull off a miracle and win the SEC tournament (and that would be a shock!)

I think Kentucky's in right now, and that's before today's great performance at #1 Tennessee. I think they would be an 11 or 12 seed, right now, because of how they've played as of late. Vanderbilt loss, notwithstanding.

I don't think they need to win the SEC tourney, but they can't afford to lose in the first round.

Kentucky is in much better shape than that. If they can win at So. Carolina and at home against Florida, they will probably make it.
