  • Pacers in the news

    Didn't somebody get raped last week at a Pacer's home?

    Apparently that has now been topped. I'm looking for a link.

    It's funny that IU got rid of Sampson for some ill-timed phone calls but the Pacers keep these thugs. Pacer fans better hope for a sudden clean up or for extremely long lives for Mel & Herb because David Simon will dump these losers as soon as the team is his.

    Can't say that I blame him.

        ...hey, they've got a new logo to live up to;

        Yes, apparently a 20-year old girl was raped in Marquis Daniels home over the week-end, though he is not a suspect (I believe he wasn't even there). I haven't heard of the latest Pacer incident though sadly it really doesn't surprise me. Is it any wonder Jermaine O'Neal wants out of Indy?!

        Although it's not a very popular thing right now, I still remain a fan of the Pacers. Not necessarily the roster but the team as a franchise. I wish Donnie Walsh would smack Larry Bird around a little and let him know that this isn't the kind of players or activities that this franchise was built on, and it's not the type of players or actions the city will embrace and get behind and support.

          What's odd is that I've lived on my own as long as some of these Pacers have been alive yet I've never had anybody raped at my house and there's never been a murderer arrested leaving my house in my car.

          Maybe I don't get out enough.

            ...I used to get out an awful lot and still do my share today. However to add to your list;

            * I've never shot anyone or been involved in a shooting at 'any' kind of bar. And I used to go to those so-called 'Gentleman' clubs quite regularly in my 20's (admittingly I was in a couple of fights but no shootings).

            * Never been pulled over and had weapons or drugs found in the vehicle or any of it's occupants.

            * Never provided vehicles or houses for friends that were really thugs, gangsta's or drug dealers.

            * never involved in a chase that resulted in a shooting after leaving a night club (well no shootings anyway...I do recall a chase or two though).

                What is their attendance lately? I honestly don't know. 3 or 4 thousand?

                  Abdul's thoughts on the situation (Abdul is a black conservative Muslim attorney talk show host here in Indianapolis):

                  YOU CAN TAKE THEM OUT OF THE HOOD, BUT…
                  I have never been a big Indiana Pacers fan and I would assume not a lot people in this town are now either. My interest has always been passive at best, but now with the latest news that a murder suspect was arrested after leaving the home of Shawne Williams is the latest nail in the coffin. This follows news this week that a sexual assault occurred at the home Marquis Daniels.

                  To be fair, neither player is accused of committing a crime, but they are guilty of bad judgment. I would suspect that both WIlliams and Daniels have made the mistake that is not uncommon amongst some black athletes. They have a talent that gets them out of the hood but they make the mistake of taking the hood with them. Someone who was getting in trouble at 30th and Post Road will probably still be getting in trouble when you move to Hendricks County, so perhaps it’s best to leave them where they are.

                  For some reason there is this belief that if you are black and become successful you have some duty or obligation to bring every Tyrone and Teniesha along with you. That is most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. People who tend to get in trouble when they are poor also tend ot get in trouble when they come into contact with wealth, only the trouble is more expensive. And individuals like Williams and Daniels would probably do well to leave the hood where it belongs.

                  It’s days like this I thank God the only hood I know is on the back of my Land’s End jacket.

                      They're averaging 12,000? That's much better than I thought. I wonder how many are actually in the seats.

                            Surely there's a city somewhere that needs an NBA team that could take them off our hand.
