  • Kudos to TrackForum

A newly minted member but a long time race fan. Only a fan glad to be here where there are a LOT of people that are or were actively involved in racing. As well as people that help(ed) put on the shows for the fans like me.

I have to furthermore send compliments to the FORUM, admin, members and all.

A stark difference in board culture than some racing forums. It is MY honor to be a member.

I came to this site by coincidence doing a search for a HotRod Mag article about the Indy 500, I thought it was once online but it is not. My good luck.

I read back through a lot of the threads and the only real angry stuff I read was in the days right after the USGP last June. Well I didn't loose any money on the race, but I was pretty angry for a while too. Understandable if you ask me. That anger passed for me too.

The site is "on" the straight stuff current and past and so much more knowledgeable than I so I lurk a lot, to learn.

Have a Great Thanksgiving. And Best Regards to All.

    UsacIrl
    PS and THANKS

    You're welcome

It's the members here that make the difference.

      Yes. Amen to that.

That said, it seems lately that for every Usac/Irl who joins, there are ten other members who insist on finding the worst in everything.

Makes me wish I were retired or independently wealthy and could volunteer to be a moderator. Some of it is concern, but to my eye much of it is badgering.

There are threads on the IRL board right now where the doomsayers practically high-five each other when they prove their "superiority" over someone who actually dares to call them on it.

That's Speednet crap. I thought this forum was above Speednet crap?

Anyway, Usac/Irl, welcome, enjoy, and counterbalance the negativity.

What you mean "Right now," Kemosabe?

That's Speednet crap. I thought this forum was above Speednet crap?
It is. It's just that Cleanupcrew burned out the ni-cad batteries in the magic banning wand a few weeks ago during the last "peace summit" when the other guys sent over a few "represntatives."

You'de better believe it's sitting on the charger right now, and the only reason anyone ever gets away with anything is because crew is saving his nickels for a mega high voltage lithium (what else?) spare. He gets that thing and there will be no stopping him.

Check out the protective headgear and safety goggles. Roasting trolls is pretty dangerous work, but if you've got the right weaponry all you need is a brave stud like crew and you're in the troll burning business! Look at the glow on that thing! And that's with only half a charge!

          Be afraid.

          Be very afraid.

The next time it comes out the initial zapping is probably going to burn pretty badly. Since I'm aware of the jolt that a full charged magic banning wand can deliver (though I've at best I've experienced a few short zappings that only lasted a week or so) I'm generally on my best behavior. With that wand soon to be carrying the full 120 volt charge, I suggest the same thing be practised by the rest of us.

Don't worry about crew. He will get his jollies lighting up the next
"ambassador" that the other guys send over. He will probably make him
dance like a hamster that's chewed through the lampcord.

          The preceeding was parody.

Usac/Irl, having read your first post (and then hijacking your thread...sorry) I'de have to say it's we that are the honored ones because you seem like a pretty good fan.

About the hatchet bearing "fan". Thats funny.
I hope everyone had plenty to eat and lots of family time for the holiday.
I buried my hatchet many moons ago. Flaming stops too much good posting I figure.
It is hard to learn or teach when tempers and voices are raised.

Also the heritage of the folks around here are always revealing more from the past of auto racing - parts of which I was around for but finding things I never knew from those here.
Fascinating and endlessly interesting to me.
              Good Wishes to all.

I have to agree with many of them - I am far form the biggest IRL supporter, yet I don't get hammered on for that.
