Well, some posters are getting out of hand in the Indy Car Forum concerning Danica Patrick.

Generally it extends to any person. Names like greasy Old Saladbar for example.
However, in the CE I think there as been greater leeway or lack of enforcement.

Just wondering. Does name calling extend to someone we are talking about in a thread? I mean a driver or other personality.

I was only asking for Gomer...
...you only need to check the notation beneath his name.

I wouldn't consider that offensive or an insult. However, I suppose it could make me a bit uneasy or nervous though depending on 'who' said it. I usually just let my girlfriend call me that.

Or Mr. Muffin, to be more formal.

In the case I was referring to, I believe it was fairly obvious it wasn't meant as a compliment. Usually when a person refers to another with some kind of title or name it's meant in a sarcastic or condescending fashion.

I'm regularly referred to here as 'irf', 'indy' & 'racefan', none of which I have a problem with at all.

If you did not refer him to his username, and used another term, the receiver might view that you mean something that is inflammatory.

I can sympathize with some who feel offended. In on forum, a person would address me in a post, and refer to me with three letters, first letter cap, second lower case and thrid letter cap. This went on for a month until I finally asked the poster what that meant. Well he told me, and, it was indeed an insult.

I was trying to be sarcastic, as noted with the emoticon.

    Maybe he meant "chef".
That's still an insult, I'm not a chef any more than I'm a chief.
