I made a comment to this in another thread, but thought this may be cool to share.
After my fathers passing we found in our basement a huge amount of storage tubs that my mom didn't know that they had. When we opened them up, we found a whole bunch of very cool things that he kept.
The ones that are most interesting to TrackForum are the old diecast cars and pictures he took (was an amateur photographer as a hobby). I don't have any pictures right now, I'll take some when I get more shelves put up to store them, but these are the cars that we found.
Has to be late 60's or early 70s, but a USAC midget, similar to what his dad raced at Springfield, DuQuoin, State Fairgrounds, and other dirt tracks. This car was specially ordered according to the receipt, he ordered it in 2019, but receipt doesn't show the year it's suppose to be. He had his dad's name placed on it. Very cool. My dad's father literally raced against Foyt, Unser, Andretti and those guys in the 60's.
1973 Jackie Stewart Tyrrell 005
pictures from the same seats we still sit in at Indy to this day, from as early as 1970. He took pictures of pre-race, and the race each year that we found from 1970-1988. So cool.
Pictures of what appears to be the 1975 USGP in Watkins Glen based off the hideous massive air box
1977 AJ Foyt Indy 500 winner
Pictures from 1981 CART race milwaukee
I don't know the year, but a Rothmans Porsche 956. I'll guess 1982-3
I believe 1982 Mountain Dew Buick from Darrell Waltrip
I believe 1983 Willy T Ribbs Budweiser Trans AM
1988 Silk Cut Jaguar from Group C
1992 Al Jr Valvoline Galmer
1995 Players Honda. Doesn't have name on it... presumably the Indy winner though
1996 Tony Stewart Indy 500 Menards humpback
1998 Paul Tracy Kool Honda
5 different Brumos Porsche cars from a similar time period
2002 Paul Tracy Indy 500 winner
2004 Pontiac powered Crawford DP from Rolex 24 with Stewart/Earnhardt and Wallace. The one where the wheels broke with 20 minutes left
There were some more too, but these are the ones that come to mind.
My father just loved racing. F1, IMSA, NASCAR (not so much the last decade), Indycar, SCCA, it didn't matter. he just loved it, and I'm glad I share his love too.
I will be putting up shelves in my mancave this weekend to add to my collection. I'll share some pics when it's done. Some of these cars are in their original box, probably worth a lot. But they won't be for sale.
