So I met Robin Miller Friday...
... and I can report that the man's a genius because I agreed with everything he had to sayEach year the local ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers) has a luncheon and golf outing at the Brickyard Crossing on Fast Friday. My brother puts on a silent auction to benefit a charity there (this year and last it was Sam Schmidt's Paralysis Foundation)**, and he's also wrangled a racing-related speaker for it (Doug Boles, Johnny Capels, etc.). This year, it was Robin Miller - a pretty bi...

Rules for Rookies (Rookie Fans, That Is)
Our group has grown to 24 this year (three RV's and a Van taking up 8 camping spots) including 8 rookies. We are really looking forward to showing them around and of course seeing the looks on their faces when they see (fill in the blank here). We even went so far as to develop a set of rules that all rookies must agree to before they are allowed to ride with us (and of course every rule is the direct result of a previous experience).. Anything we forgot? Rule #1 This is the Indy 50... -

Track Forum has certainly made it easier to stay in touch with the world of Indy cars. I’m old enough to remember the days when I would have to subscribe to the Indianapolis Star for the month of May so that long about Thursday I could find out what happened on Monday when my newspaper came via the USPS. As I’ve posted before, our media doesn’t even know you have a track.
Now I just log on to read about anything I want to know about things going on. If I have a question, someone... -

Jonathan Byrd's joins the dreamers!
Lotus Fan Force United is thrilled to announce that longtime Indy 500 and IndyCar sponsor, Jonathan Byrd's, has joined FP Journe as a sponsor of the #64 machine piloted by Formula One legend Jean Alesi. This marks the return of Jonathan Byrd's as an Indy 500 sponsor, as they were last seen at the Speedway in 2005, as a primary sponsor of the Byrd Brothers/Panther Racing entry of Buddy Lazier. Jean joins in a long line of Jonathan Byrd's sponsored drivers to have carried the Jonathan Byrd's colo... -

One Fan's Opinion
On May 26, 1996 I was 20 years old and had just arrived home for the summer from college. I remember being really tired and I just wanted to sit on the couch and watch a race. I grew up in Chicago a massive fan of the 500 and Indycars. Milwaukee was the race I attended, and my walls were covered with racing posters (Marlbrough, Kool, and Copenhagen were all over my walls growing up and I have never been close to hooked on tobacco products, but that is not why you called). I would record the... -

My "Illegal" Odyssey at Indy in 1988
A few nights ago a guy embarrassed himself by telling Donald Davidson that he drove his motorcyle onto the track at Indy after a race in the early 70s. Donald didn't remember anything about it. I have my own "embarrassing" story: the day I landed in our TV helicopter next to the museum without permission. It was 1988 and my sports director knew that I was using a portable video camera for mounting on a Skip Barber formula ford for a story I was doing at Indianapolis Raceway Park. He said, "A... -

My trip to Barber
Lindy always remembers us from MidOhio 3 years ago...same with Lauren Bohlander, who is fantastic! She remembers Jackson's name most of the time. All the drivers, and we have our favs, are great with kids. I have similar pics with my kids and Danica, Marco, Dario, Dixon...etc Moral of MY story? I'm an oval guy by preference, but I will be the FIRST to tell you...if you wanna see the cars up close...meet drivers....spend time talking with drivers....drivers in MULTIPLE series. Ya gotta go to ... -

Tony George Jr. new boss of IndyCar feeder series
About three years ago, Tony George, Jr. reached out to me to discuss a ladder system to provide a way for young drivers to climb up to Indycar. At that time I owned teams in F2000, Star Mazda and Indy Lights. I initially had no interest, but Tony's enthusiasm for the project got me going, and after being out of the promotions business for almost 10 years, I jumped back in with the resurrection of the USF2000 Championship, a series I had started in 1992 and then sold in 2001. In my view, Tony George... -
